Certain DVD players can play AVI, but it also depends on the codec required (not all AVI are the same). In general, right now, most DVD players don't play them. But the ones that can are pretty cheap.

So it depends on the DVD player nothing to do with burning? meaning if we burn it as DVD-video it wont change a thing..
Just got a DVD burner so I'm kinda doink about it _________________
Have any of you guys done any audio processing (noise reduction, etc.) to your videos?
I've got some video footage with some obnoxious audio noise/flutter and was wondering what might be a good program to lessen/remove this problem from the video.
I've demultiplexed the video and audio streams, but I can't find the right program to successfully process out the noise.

Hello!
Wasn't sure which area to post this.. sorry if it's the wrong spot.. but I was wondering if anyone could help me with burning a series that has soft subs to dvd.. I've tried different things and I'm assuming I don't have the correct program.. I usually burn things with Nero.. does anyone have this program or know if there is a way I can burn soft subs w/dvds? It's really getting the best of me.. also what program (if I can't use Nero) could I burn .rm files to dvd? Any help would be greatly appreciated.. you can either post here or PM me or send to my email address at:

Thank you so much and sorry again if I posted this in the wrong section.. _________________

I'm gonna move this over to General. However, do you mean to reencode the files so the subs are hardcoded? Or do you mean so the softsubs are selectable on a DVD menu? Have you ever authored a DVD? If not, it's a little different from burning VCD's and data DVD/CD's.
RM/RMVB can be converted but depending on the quality it might not be worth it. There is a program, unfortunately I forget the name, but I heard it did the job but could be picky and buggy at times.

i use avi2dvd. its simple to use and its free; oh wait i just saw that you have rmvb files. yeah you would need to convert it to avi or divx then into dvd.
check this site out it might help you

i use tmpgenc it's a good software and can add the subs to the coverted file to make the soft subs hard. if you want the option of turning the subs on and off. you'd first use vobsub to convert the soft sub format into and *.idx & *.sub file. then use any dvd authoring program to take the movie file and add the *.idx & *.sub file to the video.
