BMW,
Well when it does, be a pal and don't tell me that it all but installed itself, and that all the functions are childsplay.
Moving to new technologies always kicks the crap out of my ego. _________________ Manga is to Literature

I haven't really worked with much older VHS tapes yet. So I haven't dealt with modding the audio volume since I've started using my Panny.
If the volume is too low or high, I would just correct that before recording (adjusting the volume on the VCR)... Painless and less work for you later on.
@olnil:
I was just stating a complaint that I've read awhile back on older Panny recorders with built-in HDs. It doesn't necessarily mean that it applies to current models. _________________

Hmm, maybe you're overenthusiatic and are trying to hookup too many things at the same time...
I plan to ease into things, testing one thing at a time... And I don't have a cable box.

Adjust the volume on the VCR?? Most (any?) VCRs don't have volume controls...

Re; BMW's and Amrayu's conversation on having to tweak the volume on shows I'm rerecording...
Boy, I've run into that problem a number of times. Mostly converting DVD-Rs to +Rs, and even when converting VCDs to DVD+Rs.
My Arc Soft program will allow me to tone down the volume, but if I do, it can take up to 2 hours to burn a disc. _________________ Manga is to Literature

Yikes.
As mentioned before, if the video is already in MPEG form, I've gotta demultiplex the video and audio, then change the volume of the audio, then multiplex the stuff back together, then burn. But that doesn't take two hours, maybe 15 minutes at most...

Hmm, that's unusual.
Well, for us unlucky souls, we've gotta do all that demux/mux to accomplish the same feat...

Isn't the manual just the manufacturer's suggestion on how to operate the thing?

D'Oh!
I actually did try using the instruction sheets with this bugger, and it's really messed me up at every turn.
I think what happend to me, in this instance, is when I put in my first blank disc, I pressed Rec Mode and just as I did, an info screen came up saying that the disc wasn't, and had to be, formatted. I thought the screen was the result of pressing rec mode.
From there I went to the set up button and that offered me the option of switching from 6 to 8 hour recording. But not the others.
After reading your comments, I turned on the machine, stuck in a blank disc... then got down on my knees, stuck my nose up against the machine and squinted, and pressed Rec Mode, and for the first time saw those tiny little letters change. Tiny freakin little letters.
Man, oh man thank you dochira. It's so easy I should be embarassed. But to tell you the truth, you've saved me a lot of time and frustration. I appreaciate it. _________________
