Ah, a Chiaki thread. Glorious.
Somehow, I'm a bit afraid on Chiaki's role on Azumi 2. To be honest, Azumi 1 was... less than blah. Especially on Aya Ueto who has no sword skills, speed or attitude for an actress (the battles were boring, slow and stupid), making this movie a blatant J-idol bump. Now, onto Azumi 2... *shrug*
If anyone has seen this one should comment on Chiaki's performance, because I really doubt it will be a good movie :/

Even if the movie as a whole is bad, i'm sure Chiaki will put in a good performance.
A few people at the Aya Ueto thread have seen Azumi 2 already, maybe take a look at their thoughts? I don't advise telling them Aya has "no sword skills, speed or attitude" tho... they may be upset

It's an opinion. If they can't digest an opinion, then it's not my problem She might have good skills as singer or as actress in another kind of movie. But not in Azumi *shrug* 'Cute' does not mean 'quality', to begin with.
But this is a Chiaki thread, so let's leave it there.

oh, i know... i was being a silly... i'm a big Aya fan, but i respect your opinions
I'm looking forward to seeing Chiaki's swordwork in Azumi 2, though. She did some pretty cool stuff with the ball and chain in Kill Bill, and we all know she's handy with a flick knife I wonder if she plays a *good* character or an *evil* character... which would be cooler, hmmm..... perhaps one where it's not clear either way would be good...

So far she's manipulating bow and arrow in Azumi 2. We'll see.

Perhaps this has been posted in another thread, but here's the trailer of Yokai Daisenso. Large and small. And... she gets undressed in the trailer... O_o
There isn't much sword work of Chiak in Azumi 2 (the only time she handles a sword is close to the end of her part, before that only tanto and bow and even with the bow she's only shooting a few arrows). Her character has potential (after all she's a kunoichi, aka female ninja, who infiltrated the "good" guys (good? lol, Toyotomi, Tokugawa, what's the difference in the end, both sides only wanted power lol) under orders of Sanada and his goons), but sadly, she gets pretty much shelved in the end. The Azumi/Kozue fight is... a joke, sorry. For Chiaki's character being an elite kunoichi it's just too quick. Agreed, she gets to show off a few (very few) things, but overall I was very disappointed about it, and I had really high hopes after both trailers (after seeing how she takes out Nagara in trailer #2 I was like "Boy will Azumi be pissed!" Too bad I was quite wrong). If you compare it to the Black Mamba vs Go Go fight... don't... it'll just piss you off. Black Mamba vs Go Go was 1,000 times better.
There's also an overkill of videogame-boss-style characters, who then get killed quickly and don't have the same ammount of presence and development as Mogami had in part 1 (and Sanada, the 3rd target, is a pussy, Kato from part 1 would take him down within 30 seconds, and I still don't get why Sanada was on the list at all. What did he do? Broke Tokugawa's favorite sake cup?). And well, way too much talking going on throughout the movie.
And I'll never understand why they had to bring Nachi back... damn whiney boy. (Ok, it's just a guy who looks like him in the end, but still, he's just as whiney.)
I still think Kozue is basically a toned down Go Go (without that certain spark that made Go Go scary).
As for Aya, one thing has to be said. She did a lot better with her sword routine than the guys in Revenge of the Sith (at least she can hold it right).
Yub, the new Spookwar trailer is pretty interesting. They also updated the site a bit with some cast info. Nothing on "team evil" yet, just the good guys are shown so far. I'm curious about Chiaki's character, but she's only one of my personal highlights for that movie. Just look at both trailers... Miike is digging deep into Japanese mythology with it. There are Kappa in it!!! YES! FINALLY! (Why am I celebrating?! I hate Kappa in feudal Japan role playing sessions, they are annoying lol)
Also keep in mind... after Yokai Daisenso... Scrapheaven will hit the Japanese cinemas in autumn.
Oh and Yamete... these first three pictures... mmmm... lovely. If you take her smile in the 3rd one? That's not the smile of a girl anymore, that's the smile of a woman. One hell of a woman *nod* The older she gets, the better and more beautiful she becomes

Correct. Then there's no doubt that if I ever watch Azumi 2 will be for the minutes Chiaki is in it. Honestly.

Haven't watched RotS yet, but still, the battles were -slow- and the coreography was too damn obvious. That's what made me think even more that this was an idol bump movie, because everything seemed too 'carefully timed' for an action movie. Which is sad. You get to see in the backstage specials that they train a -lot- to make good fighting scenes. Not to compare Kitano's Zatoichi with this but... you get the idea. A real pity Chiaki didn't get too much sword fighting scenes in Azumi. I think she'd definitely kick major ass.

Will have to investigate on that one *nod*

That's the only reason why I'll get the Japanese cut on DVD once it's out Gotta complete my Chiaki collection hehe. Also... I'm using Kozue as a character image in an RPG, so I need some good shots of her in the ninja suit

Or take Kill Bill and how long Uma and Chiaki trained with their weapons (especially Chiaki, that thing takes quite some training and she really did a good job).
Though... I still prefer her in roles like in Kagen no Tsuki, or I'll take the A-train someday, and Scrapheaven (once it's out). Simply because... she can show off what she can do as actress there. Action doesn't take much acting skills. And, even though her role in A-train was small, I absolutely loved it.
I don't like her being typcasted to the Go Go type or just Kill Bill (luckily that problem doesn't seem to occur atm, but in the West? Most people only know her from Kill Bill, they haven't seen any of her real acting). She can do a lot more than that.

Mmmm... one hell of a wine then... *eyeshift... steals it?*
*hugs the special edition of it* and it was... expensive... gawd lol... But then again... if I can afford it, it's worth it I'd say. It has Chiaki for crying out loud!
Yep, she does, she has a 10 second cameo with no lines or anything. She just stands around and looks pretty. The movie didn't even appear in cinemas and went straight to DVD. I don't consider this movie important, for once because of her small (basically non-existent) role and secondly, it's a Steven Seagal movie, that guy couldn't act to save his life and his movies usually suck monkey balls.
