Well Beemer-
I have seen most of the Miyazaki films,
I adored I Can Hear the Sea and Whisper OF the Heart and My Neighbor Totoro Liked the rest for the most part. COuldnt watch all of Grave of the Fireflies, too depressing.
But they still wouldn't make my top ten list and Ive been watching anime for more years than I'll cop too.
SO here's is my top ten. Is yours already posted, Beemer? I didnt see it.
#1 is Fruits BAsket all the way. Probably the most important anime to come out of Japan in my opinion. Hitting so many levels of human feeling while still lively and often unbelievably funny.
#2 Gravitation - terrificly romantic, bitingly funny, always original. Ive seen it many times.
#3 Hana Yori Dango - it was hard to leave this in just the #3 slot
#4 Kaikan Phrase - I have a weakness for a rock band story and the sound track rocks!!
#5 KAre Kano Gainax at their very best
#6 Slam Dunk Could not stop watching. L.O.V. E. Rukawa!!!
#7 Kenshin I will alwayshave a soft spot for the Battousai!
#8 Urusei Yatsura ~ Rumiko Takahashi at her most original. I loved Inu Yasha but it has not the story brilliance of this series.
#9 Brother Dear Brother ~ deep dark and fascinating
#10 Its kind off a tie between Hunter X HUnter, Naruto and PRince OF Tennis All fun extremely long, totally rippin' action series. _________________

Nope. I haven't seen enough for formulate a list. I've seen most of the Miyazaki stuff, though...
Right now, I'd have to say that I'd be hard pressed to see any anime better than Kiki's Delivery Service or Princess Mononoke.

Ive been a total animaniac for years. Its is only in the last 2 or 3 that I became addicted to drama as well.
Kiki's Delivery Service was charming.
I need to see Princess Mononoke obviously. It is sitting on the shelf waiting......
But if you havent seen Fruits Basket youre missing out on one of life's extraordinary experiences. Have you seen it yet? If not I will have to rectify the matter. _________________

Quite a few really moving moments about acceptance and isolation, tolerance and understanding.
The episode where we see Momiji's (the Rabbits) mother for example gets to me every time. _________________

It shouldn't be gathering dust.... It's not just great anime, it's a great movie.
