I'll bet Betsy-chan (Betsy Hayashi) knows who that is, since she lives Sao Paolo...

I am sure she will, he is very well known. I got to see him in concert quite a few years ago in NYC and I think all of the Brazilians living in NYC showed up. He and the entire audience were great! You may know his song Esquinas, when you hear it. I think it means corners. Me I like his song Oceano from this CD. Portuguese is such a romantic beautiful sensual language.
PS. A coat and tie??? Grab your coat and get your hat, leave your worry at the doorstep. Just direct your feet to the sunny side of the street

I doubt it. I stopped listening to the radio around '92... It's pretty much all flashback music for me now...

It is funny but I do not listen to the radio except on rare occasion in my car. Yet somehow in the past ten years I have heard of a variety of musicians from around the world either through hearing them on TV or a friend giving me a CD, that has opened me up to hearing music from Brazil or Cape Verde or Zouk music or wherever. I really enjoy music and learning about it. For example a friend of mine gave me a tape of a Japanese jazz pianist by the name of Makoto Ozone a few years ago. He plays like dream and his song "I need you here" makes you feel the love coming right through the notes. I also got a chance to see/hear him perform at a jazz club in NYC too. When Makoto was young his playing was compared to Thelonius Monk. Now that is quite a compliment! So any time you want to talk music you know where to find me.

Good stuff! Me too! Songs you can actually understand and sing along with the lyrics unlike what I refer to as the "talking' songs of today.

Maybe that is why we don't listen to the radio anymore. Although I do watch music videos on TV to keep abreast of the latest songs and performers.
