I admit she is gorgeous, but her voice is just passable, well trained but passionless/soulless, her acting (like many J-dorama actors/actresses) is only so so, could this be a case of beauty clouding judgement?....(i.e J-Lo syndrome).

could the above comment be a case of jealousy?????
EDIT: BTW with j-lo its not a case of beauty clouding judgement, its a case of her big ass causing an eclipse that clouds peoples judgement

I don't think so,
I apreciate beauty and talent in all froms, men, women, art etc... I love J dorama and all things Asian, however it is unnerving that in all societies these days, beauty is put before talent. So I am fine if a model is a model (cause the have to be pretty to sell us stuff). But I refuse to say that a singer/actor is 'good' just because she is gorgeous (ie J-Lo).
I.E. Taki is gorgeous, but in some dorama's he is great (ie Majo no Joken, Taiyowa Shizumanai) in some he plainly sucks! (i.e Antique). If he is good I aplaude him if not I say he sucks, even though overall I love him as an artise. Based on her song (especialy perfomed live ai no tameni which while being ver catchy is not really a superbe vocal perfomace) and her dorama Ace (wo nerae) I simply don't think she is all that of an artist. She should keep to comercials. (At the annual FNS awards Aya was dissed by a fellow artist in a song for exactly rising to the top without really trying or without having much talent...though this was said in some jest)
That being said this holds for a lot of actors actresses, so mybe I shouldhave posted this as a new topic....

if you don't think aya is much of an artist, is a bad actor or soullless singer... then don't watch/listen to her.
people can be talented AND beautiful. I think everyone here would agree that we like Aya as much for her talent as her looks, *shrug*
I for one am incredibly impressed with how obviously hard she works, all she has achieved in her life so far, and the way her disposition is always cheerful and hardworking. also, i find her acting good and entertaining, and her voice very lovely to listen to.
not to be mean, but this thread is really for Aya fans, which you don't seem to be...

If you watch more of her doramas (Koukou Kyoushi, Kinpachi Sensei) you will see she is a talented actress. And she was nominated for best actress at japanese academy awards (for Azumi)
It's true that some people may watch her doramas and movies because of her good looks. But do you really think people listen to her music and buy her cd's just because she's cute.

btw, does anyone know what the "hatsuratsu" means when she asks "genki hatsuratsu?" and what does oronamin C mean? i keep thinking its vitamin C bc 'oronamin' ends and 'vitamin' sound the same haha
saucecake, "Hatsuratsu" means energy or freshness. we know genki means energetic.
I think "Oronamin" is just the name of the company and the "C" is added because it has vitamin C in. I'm sure I heard Japanese people talking about vitamins on a drama, and they called them "bitamins".

Hey
was just making an observation and as this is a free forum, was saying that I don't think she is 'that' talented based on what I have seen, though I admit that she is very beautiful (Yes she was not that bad in Koko Kyoshi though I hated that dorama altogether as it was some how unrealistic, but back to the point). "If I think that she is a bad actress don't watch her'?!!! Just beacuse an aritish isn't up to speed, I won't black-list them and not watch/hear what they produce. As I said there are many artists that dissapoint in their performance form time time, if I stoped watching them all based on that then I would loose out on the good stuff that they have done. As to Aya working hard, I simply repeated what another artist said about her lending credense to the fact that I am not the only person to critisize her. Not to be mean, but it is rather narrowminded to say 'We like her here' if you don't like her, don't contribute'. I neither like nor dislike her, though you are right to say that I am NOT a fan. As I ended in my last post, my issue is when beauty is put before talent, OFCOURSE there are people who are both beautiful and talented. Maybe Aya is, but in my opinion not based on what I have seen so far. That said, I don't have any praises to sing about her so I will not contribute to this particular forum as it seems that what is was set up to do.

just... get out of this forum if u are out to find people to flame you. you knew it yourself too yet you choose to post stuff here.
we all have different views and no one is right or wrong ... we are on this thread just for one purpose ... which is aya ... we are here to share our stuff with other fans and not to criticize or compare her with other artists ...

... what exactly are you trying to achieve here?
"I think Aya Ueto is only average"
That's nice. But this thread is for fans who do think she's special. You're not going to change anyone's minds by saying otherwise. All you will achieve is an unsightly argument.
Regardless, this isn't a free forum by any stretch of the imagination. We are all here at the whim of Genma and the mods. As such, we are all to behave ourselves and be pleasant to each other. Trolling for fights isn't acceptable. So, if you don't like Aya, that's fine, but keep it to yourself.
