BMW

What program are you using to download the DVD Ram into the computer?

I had hoped I could use Windows Media to save the video to a file, but the version I have playing doesn't support DVDs.

And Power DVD doesn't have a save feature, that I know of.

Geez, if you're using Windows XP, windows explorer should see the DVD-RAM disc as if it were another hard drive/floppy/disc... All you need to do is copy the file to your hard drive.

Once it's copied, you can use TMPGenc DVD Author to convert the file from DVD-RAM format (.VRO) to MPEG2 (.mpg)... Smile

I am using XP... but I'm not sure what you mean by, copy it to the hard drive.

Give me a starting place and I'll futz with it.

Step 1: put the DVD Ram into the cup holder.

Step 2: ???

Open up "windows explorer" and go to your dvd drive. Then you will see a file in there and drag it, or copy it, over to a place where you want to store the file. Not sure if that helps tho....Good Luck....

I've been converting dramas from VHS to DVD-RAM to MPEG2 file. I don't know why I haven't been doing this from the beginning.

It just takes 20+ minutes to convert the -VR files to MPEG2 using TMPGEnc DVD Author. Sweat

Yup.

Before, I was copying the files to disc, then converting to MPEG with DVD Author. Now I do it straight from the DVD-RAM disc and save myself a step. Big Grin

It's awesome. I think I've used the DVD-RAM disc at least 10 times now. It's pretty quick to erase the old titles from the disc. Thank you for letting me know about the Pioneer drives. I'm glad I returned the Sony for this one. It was $20 more, but so worth it.

Did you get your free discs from Panasonic?

I haven't even used mine yet: the five I bought earlier, plus the one included with the player have been more than enough so far. Big Grin

I bought one other disc, so I have two in circulation. I record on one, while I transfer from the other. It works so far.
