Honto??
I thought it closed down about a year or so ago... Some of the local Jdorama folks mentioned that they were looting the place...
perhaps i'm thinking of another bookstore that was closed down a while ago then....the one i'm thinking of used to be in Yaohan Plaza...which is where the Mitsuwa is......I might be trippin' but I thought that bookstore had been closed down for a while.....but if you know some looters may be my sense of time is f*cked up....
in any event...the only book store left there i think is the kinokuniya in Weller Court off of 2nd and San Pedro Ave.

Yeah, it's still there... Fortunately.
Remember all those Rodeo Drive-type stores in Weller Court? Now it's like a Mitsuwa... Sorta sad.
DAYEM DOOD...you get props because I know EXACTLY what you are talkin' about!!! That was before the Japanese bubble economy burst during the last decade...yeah they had some hella swank stores selling Gucci, Ferragamo, Prada, Rolex, etc....
those "haute couture" type goods....you have a great memory...it just proves we used to kick at some of the same places...hehe. That one corridor you speak of has been desolate for a long time...that i can DEFINITELY attest to.....it's like tumbleweed rollin' thru there now....

You forgot Dolce & Gabbana.
HAHA, i apologize...i'm SURE you are RIGHT! there used to be some really expensive stores there that undoubtedly catered to Japanese tourists/businessman who despite the high prices still found it cheaper than in Japan...back then if one recalls, the YEN was also pretty strong. (not that it isn't now..but the dollar has been exceptionally low compared to historical norms)

No problem. I think I'm going to buy a bottle of Yaegaki Nigori Sake this weekend. Just for starters.
I wish we had a bigger selection of sake brands to choose from here on Long Island. We are getting a little better. I noticed at least 5 or 6 brands in my local liquor store recently. I am going to write down the names of sake I have read about here and see if the liquor store can order some. Hawaii must have a great selection to choose from.
