yeah War of the .. was excellent in graphics but story line and ending was crap... but is watchable as is still fun! no oscar stuff though

If you ever saw the original or read H.G. Wells book, the ending was essentially the same.

I read the book, even though I'm not really a fan of Wells it's not really bad. I do remember the first movie, vaguely. I haven't seen it for ages. I'm going to watch the new one this weekend.

The new movie has a different point of view than the original... Could be a plus or minus depending upon if you like Tom Cruise or not.

i read the book, was very young at the time, so dont remember exactly how sudden the ending was

but it was sad cause after so much GREAT effort in the movie they could have made the ending a bit more interesting, if i may say so!

Then I guess most of the audience isn't sophisticated enough to accept an ending that is more complex than the comic book Independence Day-type ending.
