TerryB, you seem to know quite a bit of Chinese actors...who would you have choesen to star in the Initial D movie??? It does seem hard to find good actors that will fit the role right....

Well I'm only biased towards HK actors, I just can't stand the new generation. wouldn't say that they are all bad, but there are no outstanding ones it seems. (for the past decade?) Where are the Chow Yun Fats and Tony Leungs?

Even Ekin Cheng (though I don't like him) would be more suitable to play Ryousuke, at least he looks like an adult/brother figure, Edison is just this little boy driving the FC, even Jay Chow looks better than him onscreen.

Chapman To did a good job playing Itsuki, but they made his role stand out too much in the movie.

Jordan Chan is a nice actor and he was driving the Lan Evo, sadly his character/role wasn't all that big, his Emperors weren't dominating the streets at all: just a few lines of text. Now I think of it, there's not much character development at all.

Anthony Wong is like I said one of the last good HK actors left, normally you can expect him to be good regardless of his role: but they made Bunta too much of a dumbass, falling asleep all the time, too much talk. this time it's not the actor to blame, but the scriptwriter.

Anne Suzuki: what can I say? she has to play the "innocent" schoolgirl lover and she did well playing Mogi.

Jay Chow: haven't seen him as an actor before, but I guess he did what he had to do: be a dork. I only have one actor who could pull off a better dork(face) the guy from Whasango/Windstruck. Man he would be the best Takumi ever hehe

As you can see I wouldn't replace too many characters, I'd probably fire the scriptwriters.

like you said, it's hard to have a decent cast these days. at least they didn't put in Twins! in it. Nor did they mess up like with Stormriders (Wind n Cloud). That was the horror Shameful Cry

ohhh i see.....damn scriptwriter Beat You

I was kinda thinking if Andy Lau would make a good Bunta...he is old now and is a good actor too. Ekin Chang would make a good Ryosuke if he was younger and around the mid 20s Mr Green And yes...NO Twins in movies Shake Head

I don't know much of the chinese actors of today's generation...just Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Ekin Chang, Andy Lau.....and Stephen Chow Mr Green

So I went and saw Fantastic Four opening night... I still can't decide whether it sucked or blew. Man, what a terrible terrible movie.

Just stay home and watch some paint dry, you'll have more fun! I'm not kidding.

That explains why the film had such an organic feel to it. I felt like I was in Tokyo with them. Thanks for sharing that kenjilkina! Smile

Hmmmi those dance lessons gave gymnastic backbends a whole new meaning! Better start getting limber now for next year's visit k. Sweat Wink

Really S.T. Everytime I see it I like it more and more. But then again I enjoy films that don't need a lot of action to entertain me or hit-you-over-the head storylines with definite endings. This one allowed me to form my own conclusion at the end. Oh well S.T. to each his own. Smile

and for z123_us.......

I'm arranging a prison break. Are you in or out?

Despite generally poor reviews, Fantastic Four pulls in an estimated $56 million dollars over the weekend to take the number spot in the box office...

managed to see the Initial D movie earlier in the week and it was pretty much as bad as I anticipated. Saw fantastic four got bored and spent the movie playing time crisis in the arcade Mr Green

My main complaint about the ID movie though was the horrible job the editors did. So many gimiacky transitions when you didn't really need them, it was like the editor just discovered digital, got his/her hands on aftereffects and went mad. The weekend wasn't a total wash though because i managed to see two great films: My Summer of Love and The Ballad of Jack and Rose. I'm really starting to get tired of this over the top CG crapfest that is summer so I guess it's dvds until the good stuff resumes in the fall. Bang Head
