hmm... i see~ then in this case, i think you'll surely cry since you haven't watch either yet... (especially if you're those who's sentimental one, cos i am!!) hehe... go watch it soon and let me know how you find it? |
LoL~ I found 'Ima, Ai Ni Yukimasu' VERY touching. In fact I watched the show twice. Cried both times. T_T
I think these are one of the 2 best J Movies ever released in SG. The other one I watched was Waterboys...

Oh it works wonders alright. But problem is, we're limited by the bandwidth and hard disk capacity of our computer and networks.
I really hope they'll lift the ban on importing J Dramas into SG. We're seriously missing a lot of good titles...

I tot the ban was lifted already? That's y we have so many new titles coming in lately. But think TS is charging too much for the VCD sets coz even though they said they are now getting copyright from Japan side to sell, but I think it may not be true. Bought the "Home Drama" vcds from them and I still see the earthquake and typhoon warnings as well as the sponsor advertising flashing while the drama is playing. If they received copyright dun think that will have those... For NHK actually not many nice shows imo. I think better to get either CH 56 or the Taiwanese channel they have more dramas.

I don't have that channel sadly. But i think i should feel lucky since i have the mtv chinese channel. They play jp music videos at night! ^^ though not alot. By the way, i used to hear that poh kim at liang court is a gd place to buy vcds. Is it still opened? And where is Liang court?
I once bought a jp movie from TS and the quality was not that good. Halfway during the movie, it suddenly turned mute for roughly 15 secs and then the sounds came back on again. I ditto that the quality of the vcds should have been better. |
I have NHK but I dun have any Taiwanese or MTV channels. Feel that NHK is quite boring actually. I dun really watch it that often.
Liang Court is near Clarke Quay. I'm not sure how to describe the place to you but if you know where the previous Daimaru is, that's the place. The shop is still there though I dunno abt if it's a good place to buy vcds. I guess it's cheaper than TS and have reasonable variety.
Feel that the quality for the TS vcds are still the same no difference. Only the packaging have improved. Think it's as if they dl the shows off the net and just add subtitles. If it's really like that then I think it's the prices are too expensive. Especially for the newer dramas that cost abt 30 odd a set.

Now you peeps are seriously tempting me to get SCV Cable. I'm on landed property, quite an old piece, so its expensive to lay the cables and piping.
Yeah. But for convenience sake, I'm buying from TS and Poh Kim, coz' I don't own a credit/debit card to buy my items online. Also hate the waiting time. Took me about a month to get my stuff the other time I did a money order for a Megumi Hayashibara DVD. -.-"
Another thing is, the local Japanese DVD doesn't have english nor chinese subtitles. Unless you're poor at understanding Jap, I wouldn't advise you to get them.
Recently I'm kinda mad over Yuko Takeuchi. Looking for titles like PRIDE, Mukodono and Lunch no Jou. Anyone knows where I might be able to find a decent copy instead of DLing online? Because if this goes on, I might have to spend $$ to buy a new hard disk.

I've watched 'Heaven's Bookstore' on the plane back from Narita. Didn't know that was Yuko acting in it. |
How did you find it? I was thinking of getting the dvd but after reading reviews saying it was not very good, I changed my mind abt the dvd.
I haven't really watched that many Yuko movies, just 'Ima Ai ni' and 'Yomigaeri'. She's always acting as the person who 'came back from the grave'.

Well, with Singaporean standards, a lot of my friends said that 'Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu' plot was very hard to understand (Especially when Mio jumped into the future). I guess after having watched more Japanese films than the norm Singaporean has, I could roughly understand. You've got to agree that their plots aren't exactly what we envision it to be.
'Heaven's Bookstore' was okay for me. The KRIS flight entertainment's review was quite good, hence I happened to watch it. Its pretty dull if you don't understand the story, but if you did, you'll probably see what the director wanted to show everybody. Ratings online were about 2.5 out of 5 stars, but I'd probably give it 3 or 3.5 out of 5.
Yomagaeri? Never heard of it. Any reviews? ^^"
Yuko has that versatile face. Maybe its just me, but I think she can portray quite a range of characters. Haven't really seen a lot, but reviews I read said that she's quite funny on PRIDE and Mukodono. I think its the recent 'Rise of Soapy Dramas/Movies' that she could fill the role quite easily as well. She's got that very sweet, subtle face. Maybe its because we've been influenced by 'Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu' thats why we tend to associate her with 'rising from the dead'... LoL~

Yup, "Ima Ai" is more fantasy-based so maybe some people might find it difficult to understand. I personally thought that "Kagen no Tsuki" (Last Quarter) was more confusing though. "Yomigaeri" is abit more to the fantasy side too. You can check out a review on it here. http://www.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/getarticle.pl5?ff20030212a3.htm
I personally loved it. Find it very touching.
As for Yuko, I've watched Mukodono and Fukigen na Gene. Haven't watched much of her other dramas though have browsed through Lunch no Joou. She has a new movie with Tsumabuki Satoshi coming out in fall. Can go check the trailer out.

I watched abit of Egao no Housoku and she was in a yukata / kimono in one scene. Definately drool-worthy!
