they aren't bad when they are prepared...plus i know how hard it is to try and sing in front of a live band like that...and those girls were horrible...i'm sorry, they were...trying too hard and playing way too aggressively loud...when you have that going on right next to your head, it makes it hard to sing properly.
but i do agree...thank god for Ohno...sho can rap...but he can't sing his way out of a wet paper bag in my opinion...

LOL! They are manufactured boy band after all However I hav'nt watch that performance...
Tho' i like Sho's angsty-rockish voice esp. in Pikanchi Double (OK I'm being bias I do lurve Sho)
So they are not singing live even at concerts??? bcoz it seems to look like they'r miming. The singing is perfect
I'v downloaded the 24hr interview wit Ohno sleeping on Nino posted by fybabe (thank you fybabe ). Looks interesting but theres no sound... Does anyone hav the same problem?
If not i hav to d/load it again. Hopefully it'll not blocked

of course they sing live in concerts. dat's what we pay to see. in fact, i think their concert performances are better than some of their other live performances.
no such thing as a mime live concert since milli vanilli got busted for dat... duh... yes, i'm ancient...
ainangst,
there should be sound. maybe try a different sortware instead of win media player.

they sing live at thier concerts, i'm sure (as proven by many of the fan filmed clips and mp3s)...but i'm also sure that for the dvd releases, the music is polished up so that you aren't just hearing thousands of screaming fangirls instead of the guys singing...which is why it seems like they are lipsyncing instead of singing...no one really wants to watch a concert and only hear the fans screaming
i remember milli vanilli too...i hated their music anyway so it was no shock to me when they were busted...but then again, it was no shock to me that that simpson girl got busted on Saturday Night Live...most bands use those lead tracks to make sure they hit the right cues and are singing the right parts...but most aren't stupid enough to have them playing over the speakers...most of them have them playing into their earpieces

@fybabe, I'v used DivXplayer n Real player
Maybe its my ofice pc.I'll try again at home. Thanks
@battlegirlai, Yup. I'v only seen their dvd version concert performance.
Off topic - I'v watched SMAP MIJ con dvd and it seems odd to see takuya voice sounding "natural" (=pitchy hear and there) while the others sound too perfect.

i have that one...they don't really look much like mops...its just fringe...you want scary, you look at their performance on MS performing Kimi no tame ni boku ga iru...that was really bad...but we have really done that whole costume conversation before, haven't we? ^_^
and i'm not bashing arashi...i've been trying to defend them. having done a lot of musical performances when i was young, i know what its like to try to sing live

I'm not so sure about that. Yes at various times in the concert DVD we can here them singing live but sometimes they sound just a little too good
esp when they are actively running/dancing. And while they can touch up their DVD, what about the 2001 winter concert which a fan secretly captured it.
Of course it could be all their singing but after hearing live Sakura perf i have become a bit sceptical

i believe they are all live captured, even the concert dvd ones or the sound good ones.
every performer has his bad stage day anyway.
the reason why they sound clear even through the shouting in the concert dvds is because their singing are directly recorded from their mics and not a million miles away from the camera. and all recorded stuff are mixed to the optimum quality anyway.
like battlegirlai, i used to sing alot on stage long time ago, and there was one time a loud noise interferred with my pitching key and i was off tune all the way.
EDIT
Since we're talking about this subject that I'm particularly professional about, let me explain a little about concert/live recording.
Sometimes (depends on the extravagence of the event), visuals and sound and sound effects are captured separately.
A couple of cameras to capture different angles, different distances. artist performance and crowd reactions are captured separately.
Direct voice capture from the artist's mic, sometimes mics to capture instruments and mic to capture crowd reactions.
everything is mixed in the studio at the end.
