riyeuu,
the japanese naming system is the same as the chinese naming system.
the first 1 or 2 characters in front is the surname, and the following 1 or 2 characters is the 'first' name.

so surnames for the boys are Ohno, Matsumoto, Sakurai, Aiba and Ninomiya.

And maybe you were 15 yrs old at that time when your teacher said you can call those younger than you 'kun'? Sweat
coz my japanese colleague, who's 30+, calls her 20+ male friends kun.
hmm... maybe i'll ask her on monday.

EDIT

oops... seems like folks been writing before me...

I know you guys mean well, but I DO know which are their first and last names. I was just trying to correct someone and somehow ended up seeming like I didn't understand the whole thing myself. x_X

japanese say first their family names and then their given names, thatLs the tradicional way (when written in kanji they should always be listed like this), but in magazines, for example, when they "romanize" the names, they sometimes put them the way we use in western countries: given name-family name.

But for our guys, their given names are: Satoshi, Kazunari, Masaki, Jun and Sho; and of course the other are their family names. You can just listen when they introduce themselves, they (referring eachone to himself) will say always their family name (Ohno, Aiba, Ninomiya, Matsumoto, Sakurai), because thatLs the formal and tradicional way to do it in Japan.

Bingo
You are absolutely correct Applaud

Just to add on to this. Japanese names are like Chinese names. Someone named Tan Ah Beng - Tan is the family name and Ah Beng is his given name or Kinomoto Sakura - Kinomoto is family/first name and Sakura is given/last name. Whereas if English names like James Brown, Brown is the family name and James is the given name. Therefore when you call someone 'Mr Brown', it's the same as calling Sho-kun or Sho-san (haha formal).

I agree with Deragoth that Jun and Sho are easier to call because it's shorter. Imagine screaming "MATSUMOTO" everytime.

EDIT: Eck! What me and tsuki666 said are very contradicting. Haha nevermind, I still think Ohno is Ohno and Satoshi is his family name. I think the easiest way to know is to know what the rest of their family members are called and thus, you know what is their family name. Now THAT I want to go research on. Who's who in their family.

Err. Aren't you still thinking about the whole thing the other way around? ._.

hmmm, with all these 'name-calling', i was also a bit confused before... I know the fact that Japanese often say their family/surname first before their given name, but with all these 'westernization' it's hard to tell. But I do know for sure that Sakurai is Sho's family name...

as for 'kun' and 'chan', by default, most guys would address their buddies with 'kun', while between girls, it's 'chan'. chan is also used to address someone younger and it usually related to cuteness. In families, parents usually call their children with chan, however old they are. A senior would address their jrs as kun. Sometimes teachers will address their students with 'kun', doesn't matter if they're girls or guys. This is what my Nihon-go sensei tells me. But nowadays, the usage of 'kun' and 'chan' isn't as clear as it was. girls might use 'kun' and vice versa, but it does represent certain things. You would feel the differences when hearing names with different postfixes. Like Aiba for instance. Aiba-chan sounds very kawaii while Aiba-kun is more kakkoii... I've heard Aiba call Sho 'Sho-chan', and it is kinda rare. I prefer Sho-kun tho... Naughty

Well, here's something I'd like to share:

Can you see any resemblance between these two guys?

dont get people confused, -chan is usually use for kids... usually up to elementary school age... and on a close/intimate relationship, i think they wont bother using -chan, -kun or even -san.

now lets get back to the thread... saw someone uploaded the torrent file for the whole making of ONE, i dont know if anyone posted it yet but here's the link :

enjoy.

Right! To end this and what everyone has said 'Sakurai' is the family name so the same goes for the rest. Damn sweet name I say. I satisfied my curiosity to confirm the name when I searched for one my favourite actor and 'Ichikawa' is written first.

dalinee: Are you trying to give me a heart attack? SHO IN SPECS!!! And I say the resemblance is in the nose hehe Any more of his pics with specs I can find?

well, he did fit the description of sho's dad... Sho's dad was a graduate at Todai right? and he's also a government official... i'm like 99.9945% sure, but since i don't have the chance to ask Sho himself... we should leave a bit for uncertainties... the one who posted this seemed completely sure, tho....

I'm rewatching the MS lai, lai, lai performance over&over again..i kinda don't like the perm on Sho's hair. But i definately adore nino's hair (reminds me of okada junichi Tokyo Tower hair). Suits him well & very sexy..Oh,love Nakai & Takuya reaction..Such wonderful senpais

Does anybody know if they'v done any other lai, lai, lai (or other songs from the ONE album) performance on other varieties & will they appear in Utaban?
