exactly....I've been in the bay area quake of '89, was similar to the Japan one. it was a 7.1 shaker, and i sure felt that one. I remember could barely stand while the whole place shook. I got over it and well, what can you do right? just got deal with it as it happens and hope to get through it.

one of my japanese pen pals from Nagoya area said she felt some shaking but is ok, but i believe it was centered 185 miles north east of Tokyo, if i am correct.
it was a big one, but i think the Japanese are ok. Bonk

Luckily (or unluckily if a tsunami would have hit), the earthquake was located in the ocean, so land movement was minimal. It might have caused more damage if it the epicenter was on land.

Indeed, but an earthquake on land would rock the buildings more.

yea, let's hope nothing happens, the earthquake did enough shaking for japan.

i am sure they have a warning system there in case of a tsunami...

We didn't get one yesterday. They said that the EQ was too weak to project movements here.
idk. I just kind of overheard the news when I had it on last night. Nothing serious.

One of my pen pals from the Sendai area, said it was a 7.4, but in Nagoya, they didn't really feel it there.
