as a nation that has put up with decades of terrorism from the ira you never get used to the news when it happens. it still shocks.
this is why this kind of activity will never prevail over decent human beings going about their daily lives.
WE WILL WIN!
thank you. |
I second that! _________________

Yeah Paris had their last Olympic games in 1924. It would have been a perfect time for them?
I am just glad that NYC did not win their bid. Yes I live close by, but there was too much political in-fighting and no consideration towards the public as to where to build the stadium. Greed did not win out this time! |
Yeah all that fighting over the Stadium I think did them in.

I think they were longshots to begin with behind Paris and London. The Atlanta and Salt Lake Olympics are fairly recent, and the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver meant it was unlikely coming back to North America. The stadium fiasco was the final nail in the coffin.

Right until the voting happens, no one knows which way the IOC members are going to vote. It was either London, or Paris, and people just picked Paris as the favorite.

Yeah, that wasn't the wisest thing to say at that time. I think he also said something about Finnish food, which didn't sit too well with their delegation.
