mankind has yet again stooped to the lowest of lows.

these kind of actions only serve to make us stronger and more determined to eradicate terrorists who threaten the civilised world!!

Oh yes, they WILL LOSE. We will not allow them to take our people hostage and behead them in the name of jihad no more. We will not lose and give up in the face of terror....

i don't want to stray from this thread so i'll just say one more thing about today's news.

as a nation that has put up with decades of terrorism from the ira you never get used to the news when it happens. it still shocks.

this is why this kind of activity will never prevail over decent human beings going about their daily lives.

WE WILL WIN!

thank you.

I am just glad that NYC did not win their bid. Yes I live close by, but there was too much political in-fighting and no consideration towards the public as to where to build the stadium. Greed did not win out this time! Applaud

Yeah all that fighting over the Stadium I think did them in.

I think they were longshots to begin with behind Paris and London. The Atlanta and Salt Lake Olympics are fairly recent, and the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver meant it was unlikely coming back to North America. The stadium fiasco was the final nail in the coffin.

well, from the scoring, london were always ahead of paris in each round so i don't know why paris were favourites

Right until the voting happens, no one knows which way the IOC members are going to vote. It was either London, or Paris, and people just picked Paris as the favorite.

Yeah, that wasn't the wisest thing to say at that time. I think he also said something about Finnish food, which didn't sit too well with their delegation.
