hmm... having not been to japan in my adult life, i can't compare the foods, but the dish they serve the most of...
Beef Teriyaki with Tempura, and a glass of Franzia wine...
and the only sake they served was Sho Chiku Bai, like what you'd get a regular grocery store.
I wasn't as much of a japanophile as I am now, and besides, she's actually taiwanese.
So when you finally get to Japan I guess you will know what not to order. Yeah we can't buy hard liquor in our grocery stores here, just beer. But I know what you mean Sho Chiku Bai is the basic sake sold in most liquor stores in NY.
I can't wait to read all about your adventures when you go to Japan. Do you have any plans to go in the next 1-5 years?

i wont be going for a while, unless Peru gets cancelled, and from the crash today, that could be a possibility.. (not laughing at the incident)
I wanted to go Aichi for the Expo, but no one from here could go, and the only few people I know in that area, are my (last) ex's old roomy who just moved back home... and that would be wierd.
I told my ex Emi that I wanted to go home and visit her family, and hit up the Ramen museum, and she laughed at me.

the Aichi expo is until Sept. 25th, and my pen pal in Nagoya went last week, and it was fun, but lots of long lines.
I didn't get a chance to go there, just passed thru Nagoya on Shinkasen on the way to Kyoto.
you still talk to your ex also? suppose to meet up with my ex laters.
i dont speak to my ex much.. i think it had to do with me accusing her of becoming a kogirl.
is she japanese? kogal eh? did you apologize to her?
suppose to meet with the ex, exchange some other stuff, and have some dinner, before she heads back to SF.
don't talk with my ex all that much either, once in a long while...

HELLZ NO, i didn't apologize, I knew it was ending anyways, cause she didn't invite me to her graduation.
Im stubborn but damn, i didn't think GoldDigger would have as much impact on her behavior/thoughts. It's a long story, and not really for this particular thread.

i COULD go now, but i'd starve and have to live on the streets or something.
For me and my wife, we could probably go round trip, but in between would be a totally different question. Maybe cheap accomodations, eat here and there....

This advice is for anyone whofs planning to go to Japan for there first time.
OK, almost in all middle class hotels will provide you with kimono something like a bathrobe for every guess. The hotels there do except you to wear it whenever youfre using their facilities and restaurants in their hotel. My advice to you is wearing the bathrobe like kimono, wear it the right way to save yourself from embarrassment while you walking around the hotel.
When you wearing the kimono, there with be two pieces left and right, plus a belt like rope for tightening the outfit. It is very important that you have the left side over the right side before tightening the outfit. If you manage to do it opposite, the locals would think youfre a walking ghost. That is because only buried ones wear their kimono right side over left side.
I was wondering why everyone was starring at me and said something that I didnft understand. Lucky me, an English speaking Japanese come over to me and told me about what I did wrong.

"I ain't sayin' she a gold digga...but she ain't messin' out with no broke n*ggaz."

Had a great time in Osaka!!!!!!
Thanks lewiswan for that tip!!! A Japanese friend also told me that sometimes cab drivers in Japan don't like to pick up women by themselves at night because they think they might be ghosts! So I guess it wouldn't be a good idea for me to wear my kimono with the right side over left and then flag a cab at night in Japan!!!

Osaka, feel like telling us about it?
I canft oven imagine the face on that cab driver!!!!
I went on a week trip to Osaka and let me tell you, it was my dream come true. I would rather stay in Tokyo but I had a budget. During that week I went to the heart of Osaka and to the countryside. The heart of the Osaka was amazing, high skyscraper rose in every block. Which doesnft happen often in Japan because of its earthquakes. So I guess the taller buildings in Japan has the more advance technologies, to provident from earthquakes. The places I went, people there were really nice and always had a smile. I felt really welcomed there. This is my advice; do not except Japanese people to understand English because most locals donft. I had to use a lot of sign languages there.
You know, seeing Japan in movies and going there yourself was an unbelievable experience. I would for sure make another trip but only to Tokyo next time.
Things in Osaka were quite expensive, compare to most places in Asia. The only thing I brought back was, a Japanese version SONY PSP. Actually the PSP turned out to be cheaper than Hong Kong.
I believed the best part of my trip was to the countryside of Osaka. Like in all countryside you can always find some peace, away from the city, but Osaka was bit different. It was more then peaceful, it was like a wonderland to me. The reason was, there were snows falling from the sky. There wonft any snow when I was in the city. The best experience was, snow falling down on your face while you outside in natural hot spring. Therefs so much more to it. I want to tell everyone every bit of details but I would take me forever.
I hope you all would have a great time in Japan like the one I had!!!!!
