if kimutaku was hasumi senpai... erm... i doubt momo would hold a candle against him... i mean, then sumire would be the one wanting to get into kimu's pants! and momo would be kicked out of the house in half an episode!!! haha! ok, i love jun, but for a character like sumire who's supposed to be crazy about successful, kakkoi kimu-senpai in the first place, would have no 2nd thoughts on a kiddy, homeless momo.

but then again, the greater competition would probably force momo to react with fiercer instincts too. it would be suggoi sizzling in there... too bad they cast that clueless fellow first...

i don't think he'll be much nastier, i think he will try much harder!
the clueless fella is just too easy for momo. i mean, i don't even hafta think who'll win in the end...zzz...

but if it's kimukun gosh... momo would go all out to please sumire i think.
on one hand a kakkoi, irresistable, face-worthy but pressurizing, over-achieving bf, on the other hand, someone warm, talented and sooo ready to kiss away yr troubles at home, but really quite public-embarrassing pet... hmm... i think she'll end up with no one... Sweat

ok, so i'm speaking from the position of having no idea who this kimu-person is...

the guy they had in the series actually made a pretty accurate Hasumi-sempai. the Hasumi sempai in the manga was even MORE clueless and more of a milktoast than the one from the tv series...the point of hasumi-sempai was that he was this "perfect" man for sumire...he fit all the requirements that she had always wanted in a boyfriend. Handsome (but not omg drop dead gorgeous), smart and successful and tall. but he just didn't have that ability to pull Sumire out of her image concious bubble and back into reality like Momo does. He wasn't forceful...he wasn't supposed to be. He was everything she wanted on the outside, but not what she needed on the inside. If he was...the series just wouldn't be Kimi wa Petto...it would be something completely different. Hasumi IS exactly how that guy portrayed him.

as much as i never liked Hasumi-sempai (not in the manga or tv series) i am not unhappy with any of the casting. i wouldn't change any of them.

is it just that guys looks that you guys had a problem with?

Do you think, that Momo loved Sumire? I think he did. Otherwise, he wouldn't be envy when Sumire and Hasumi were together.

not the looks but his clueless, unsuave character. i've never read the manga, so i'm commenting just from what i'm seeing from the drama

i just thought he's no competition for momo. so i just thought maybe a slightly stronger willed, less baka guy will make the plot less predictable.

and kimutaku is kimura takuya of 'love generation' and 'long vacation' to name a few...

I have to agree that the hasumi senpai character has got to be of no match & clueless or else momo is dead-meat. So, it's the guy they casted as him that's all wrong in the series. To my mind, he had to be someone gorgeous that had every girl in the office swooning like Ito Hideaki or Kenji Sagaguchi (Koyuki's current bf). But they casted that particular actor which was neither dead gorgeous nor likeable. It was his looks that was wrong for the part I think. BTW yes, I think Kimura Takuya as Hasumi senpai would have been a waste & momo would certainly be no match for Sumire's affection.

Yes, they look a good couple but the drama was open ended and I wished they did it differently, know what I mean - Sumire and Momo as a lovey-dovey couple, not as master-pet.

you can find the series for download on bittorrent at japan-tv's website (google it or browse back in the thread....)

anway....i can understand that many of you that haven't read the manga may not be happy with certain aspects of the show...but i can only say that how things are in the show is almost exactly how they are in the manga...and if they weren't that way, it wouldn't be kimi wa petto...they couldn't change the story from the manga to tv series without pissing off the very fans that caused them to make a live action series of an extremely popular manga.

things were exactly how they should be. the guy they got for hasumi was attractive enough to be Hasumi...

as for how momo an sumire not being a lovey dovey couple...that was kinda the point. that not all love has to be that lovey-dovey-cuddles and coos...that its whatever it is that makes you happy and feel complete.

actually i like the way it ended.
(but i don't like the stupid accident which plays no purpose at the end with the bandaged momo's hand though)

i like the way that it's kind of open ended coz they've still got a loooooong way to go before sumire can openly accept momo as a bf or anything other than a 'pet'. at least it reveals signs of her opening up a little at the end.

to me, it'll be odder if suddenly they are holding hands or kissing in public or worse, getting married?!!! it's already a short enough series to crash dead end like that. so i like the way the ending is right now.
probably would need part II to end up with a more 'firm' relationship.
but please!!! NO SERIALS! i was just hypothesizing...

I'm not from Japan so I'm just curious to know does it matters a lot if an older woman goes out with a younger man. As in the case of Kimi that is. hypothetically, would Sumire's relationship with Momo goes further i.e ending in a marriage? I also noticed that in most jdrama, the actresses' ages are usually matched to their roles' age but not for the actors! Does this show a gender bias somewhat?
BTW, I would love to see Sumire & Momo relationship ending in a marriage - just like in fairy tales! Hontoni

not at all dear.
there is no rule as to how much older or younger your guy should be.

i think in the case of kwp, the embarrasing part is that momo is 'kept' as a 'pet' from the start and not a bf. that relationship for anyone anywhere in the world would put the girl in an embrassing situation i guess. i mean it would be perfectly fine if the relationship developed 'normally' like a bf/gf thing rather than like a secretive 'gigolo'/vague relationship.

In Japan isn't forbidden that if a women goes out with a younger boy. I think the only condtion, that the boy mustn't be minor, or a teacher's student.
