Yeah, I'm curious about that myself.

Once Aho wakes up, maybe he'll chime in.

While looking at gaspricewatch.com, I noticed the highest price for gas (as reported by people) is in Lanai City, HI for $4.20. I've seen reports that gas was $5+ in the Southeast, but I guess no one has reported it to this site.

there's that 4.20 again. hehe

a friend of mine said that there was a station outside of Atlanta (ruralish highway) that had 87 for $5.01 two days after Katrina hit. When he went back the next day to take a photo, it was down to $3.59.

A lot of people have been taking advantage of the 100% financing options available now.
Also, I noticed people here have VERY GENEROUS relatives who fork over some cash to help them out.

And people who already own property, especially with a title free and clear, they'll refinance the property and use the proceeds to purchase another.

Timeshares have gained MUCH popularity here. The market is crazy.

Exactly. And working in escrow, you'll see the same names in different transactions a lot.
It's all about the money, I'm afraid.

Yep, however the real estate bubble hasn't burst in Hawaii just yet. Single family home prices are still on the rise, and very steadily. Niko, if you do plan to move to Hawaii and purchase a residence, I'd suggest you come when you can.
not in any time soon, prolly in about 10 or 15 yrs... Sweat

I already asked in the Food thread, but I figure I might attract more attention here. Any places to go for sushi buffets/other buffets or do I need to open my wallet for decent stuff? Sweat

Also any good places for breakfast?

there is this one place in Oahu that i went to, kinda like a to-go place for sushi, and people that are in Hawaii, you may know this place, sorry forgot the name of it, but it had these sushi rolls you can get to go, and they were the best. They had several throughout the island, might be a chain of food stores. Also this other place i went to get some good japanese rice crackers on Oahu, the best hawaiian/japanese snacks.

also, there is the chilli, you can get on the island, at some restarants, called "Zippy's Chilli" good stuff.

not sure on the higher end type fancy restarants, although went to a few places with my family, but don't recall them.

Hmm, perhaps someone there will be able to post the name of this place. And along my post, is there a kaitenzushi (conveyor belt) sushi place on the island? Head Scratch

Regarding the sushi place, could it be Genki Sushi?

That's the same thing I was thinking!

As far as the take-out sushi, that's probably Kozo Sushi.

Genki Sushi is the kaitenzushi place. It's actually pretty popular here.

I think the "to go" sushi place that qilver was talking about is Kozo Sushi. They've got stores all over the place.

Hmm, the only thing I've climbed was Diamond Head, and it gives you a view of Waikiki and neighboring islands from the top.
