Been listenin to Day After Tomorrow - Gradually since the last night, still haven't got tired of it. A superb song, I'm totally hooked on the song, must look for the pv. I'm still listen to the song as I type this message Applaud A successor to ELT? We'll see...at least they sound ELT-ish type of music, an ex ELT member, a music producer wizard, Mitsuru Igarashi is behind DAT Wink

I was plannin to watch Every Little Thing - Many Pieces 2003 Concert Tour live at Tokyo International Forum tonight. Hopefully, the "lazy"-setting isn't switched on hehe

1. Utada Hikaru
2. Utada Hikaru
3. Utada Hikaru.

You get my drift!
but she's not the only one...
there's still Chemistry, Bird (very very unheard of in Singapore). Uhhh.. that's about it. Mr Green

Hmm...in SMAP...Nakai-kun, Goro-chan and Tsuyopon did went off-key from time to time when they sing live. Sometimes, it made my stomach turn. Shake Head
But as far as i can remember, Takuya & Shingo never went out of tune and always sang their part beautifully. They even sounded better LIVE rather than on record.

My favorite JPOP singers???? In order of obsession (yes, that's the right words to use - obsession):

1) Sakai Noriko (my avatar) - I've loved her since the early 1990's. I am totally gah-gah over her!!! Heheheh... I have every CD, CD single, and photobook she came out with. And, I have a mountain of magazines she appeared in, and about a dozen autographs of hers. My friends start to show deep concern for my well being when they walk into my bedroom and find my Nori-P shrine. Nut She's also the only JPOP female star I've met in person... In 1998 when she filmed Ultra LOVE LOVE with Kinki Kids, I ran into her at the flea market in the middle of Waikiki. I shook her hand, and was mumbling my words, probably saying stupid things like I love her or something! Lovey Eyes I got an autograph out of it, where she signed one of my shopping bags I had with me at the time. Her best physical features are her eyes and that smile... The smile is what really kills me!!!!! I'm also the proud owner of the domain name norikosakai.us. Maybe I should start wearing my hair like her next... Naaaaaaaaaah, that would be really sick!!!!! Favorite songs: Love Letter, Anata Dake, Natural, Milk & Tea, Hohoemi Wo Mitsuketa, Yokogao, Aoi Usagi.

2) Hikawa Kiyoshi - He's my favorite JPOP male singer! I love the old-fashioned enka style of singing. He dresses sort of like someone out of one of those 60's british detective shows. He has an excellent voice, with great range. I also saw him live in concert very recently, where he came to Hawaii as a special guest of the Aloha Week Festivals 2003. I sing several of his songs at karaoke bars throughout Oahu (I even carry around some CD-Rs with karaoke music so I can show off with the good stuff). Favorite songs: Hakonehachiri no hanjirou.

3) BoA - She has IMHO the best voice in JPOP! She's also up with there with the biggies like Britney and Christina... She's that great of a singer!!!! I don't know much about her other than what I've observed through her music and videos. I can see that she's a very hard worker when it comes to her craft... She's an excellent dancer, has wonderful stage presence, and can even sing in three dialects (Korean, Japanese, and English). Her latest CD Atlantis Princess is something every KPOP/JPOP fan should have in his/her collection. Favorite song: Tree, and Lights of Seoul.

4) Matsuda Seiko - I've loved her music since the late 1980's, though I don't obsessively follow her all that much. She's very very cute! Best feature of hers are her eyes. A good friend of mine gave me an autograhed CD she personally signed for me (I think it translated to "To Bryan - You're all right!") She's probably the hardest worker in JPOP today, especially when she's waaaaay over the hill at age 41. However, she still cranks out killer dance tunes with her latest CD. Favorite songs: Gone with the rain, Angel, Missing You.

Honorable mentions: Ishida Yoko, Saegusa Yuka.

Watched ELT - Many Pieces Concert Tour 2003. I liked the concert, too bad it was short. This time it's a 30 min shorter than the previous concerts ELT held. Kaori's voice has significantly improved, so clear and strong Applaud Kaori does few high kicks during the concert, she sure is stretchy Big Grin Prolly stretchier than Ryoko Yonekura hehe
Once again, Ichiro's has proved he's one of the best guitarist in Japan, his guitar playin scenes are absolutely superb! The performance of Kioku -song really warmed my heart, it really relieved my mind. A splendid song, soft rock ballad! That doesn't mean the rest are bad Wink
Overall a great concert from ELT! A must watch for ELT fans, as always Mr Green

Btw Performances of Future World and Shapes of Love have been a tradition at every concert Wink

Bingo... she does have a song called 'Flow', and I bet you knew that through Kyumei Byoto! Mr Green haha.. that's how I knew her as well, she's what they call 'ulu' over here in Singapore... unheard of.

She's more in the 'soul' genre than the 'pop' genre. I like some of her other songs, but some others are too jazzy for my liking.

Flow is nice.. but I wonder why some people dun seem to like it... it's only when we watch the show accompanied by the song will we start to like it.

here's a site for Bird, and it has a lot of Song previews... so you can try whatever you want.

http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Music/Arch/AI/Bird/AICL-1421.html

some of her songs sound rather... unique, but some (like flow) are really pleasing to the ear.

I like this song, the 8th Track from her 'MINDTRAVEL' album.
l̖閾
a very refreshing number with only a guitar as accompaniment for the first 1 half minutes or so... later it starts to get all jazzy..

I haven't watched Jpop pvs in a while, been outta the jpop scene a bit. Leeched some last night. The followin pvs I watched:

Aiko - Andromeda
Typical "Aiko pop". You know what I mean, if you listen to Aiko

Day After Tomorrow - Starry Heaven
A good song, sounds ELT'-ish Smile Although the guitar scene isn't la Ichiro's hehe

Hiro - Ai ga naiteru
Is it a jpop or a spanish bullfightin music? The vid was very boorish and the song, too. I couldn't finish it.

Eriko Imai - Butterfly
Eriko's a copycat, her style looks Beyonce Knowles and the recent Ayumi Rolling eyes We get to see her firm belly Big Grin A slow pop. I thought the song was gospel, some ppl singin gospel at the beginnin and at the end.

Misia - Kokoro Hitotsu
Didn't finish the song, got tired at late night.

BoA - Double
average song, the dance moves not close to Valenti or Listen to my heart

Kiroro - Hitotsubu No Namida
I liked this song a lot! Theme of the pv was excellent, old fashioned and full of warmth! It's like watchin some old footages taken from a camera and memorizin the past, aah!

Aya Ueto - Kansho
Fell asleep, didn't finish it.

I have a feelin Aya Ueto is like a successor to Kyoko Fukada. Fame soarin, doin movies, dramas, posin pics and singin, sooner or later the singin career crashes first. She reminds me of Fukada.

I'm not very into J-Pop and I only have 1 fav. group. They are.... SPEED! However, they've disbanded quite a while ago... I love their songs and lively appearance.... Any of you heard of them?
