yeah it has some yakisoba in with a side of gyoza. when he watches the iron chef it's like a smellovision 4D experience. i hear it's the latest thing in japan.

Dish Network has a japanese channel add-on package for $25/month... you can also put up some FTA stations with a large Ku/C-Band dishes.

personally, i employ used yakitori skewers wrapped in foil...and i've been built something comparable to the VLA (Very Large Array) in my backyard. it works pretty well...makes the neighbors jealous and my cell phone works GREAT at home.

I'm certain that would be TV Japan.

In terms of FTA (free-to-air?) channels, can you seriously pick up any good stations?

you are so 1980's, i traded in my VLA for a VSATBTYLA (Very Small Array that's better than your Large Array)

I've never had to point a dish towards the japanese sats... i know it's possible.

no, he has it on his roof. he gets tv tokyo and lots and lots of japanese channels. he says he only knos that it connects to japan satellite 11, wutever that means...

you can pick up TV Japan and NHK with a C band Dish pointed at PanAm sat 9.
the unencrypted channels at least.

I know Sky PerfecTV, but I think you need to be in Japan to get it.
It's tough to get the signal with a small, unless you're between Hawaii and India, because the satellite are in stationary orbit. Bang Head

You can check the type of encryption and the satellite information for each channel in Japan here:

But with all these channels available to you, you can slurp all the Japanese language you want. Change channels even. Big Grin

I seriously was considering plopping down $40?/month for TV Japan. Maybe I'll be able to get it and more with some tinkering.
