I agree with kikikiwi about that article on HYD. I don't see any huge bias in the article. Even if there was, it's the opinion of one fan, not an authoritative film and TV critic. It's like if you asked any of us whether we prefer Arashi's or Kat-tun's music. We'd, of course, reply that Arashi is better.
A couple things about that article did bug me though. I agree that the "outdoing" each other comment is inappropriate. The purpose and intent of the two F4s is completely different. The Taiwanese F4, in addition to Meteor Garden, entered into other streams of entertainment, like their foray as a music group, and became a brand in the Taiwanese entertainment industry. I don't believe the new Japanese F4 will go any further than the nine episodes this series is slated to run.
The other thing that annoys me even further is the fixation on height and looks. Apparently, many MG fans have griped about this. IMO, Jun's hairstyle is the probably the closest interpretation of the manga Domyouji hairstyle. Dreads or pinwheel curls will just look weird on a real life, Asian person, don't you think? The fixation on height just drives me nuts. Since when has height factored into being a good leader? Anyone heard of Napoleon Bonaparte? He was 168cm tall.
Thanks for the welcome ryouko! Heh, I must have missed the discussion on that ep - to be totally truthful, I only made it about 1/3 of the way into this thread before giving up and just reading the more recent comments. ^^;;
About the HYD article - the author probably was a little biased, but I don't think she/he was trying to bash the new Japanese version or Jun. I can actually understand some of what she's saying. Now I love Jun-kun to bits, but when I heard he was going to be portraying Doumyouji, I did kind of wonder whether he could pull it off. Not because of his acting (which I think is good), but because of his inherently more cute/bishounen-y looks. Doumyouji the character (from the manga) is very much a rough/harsh/big kind of a guy I would say his image leans more towards hulking than willowy/skinny and pretty, cute/naughty, the way MatsuJun is. So, I can actually understand the complaints about height - not because the taiwan version was tall, but because the image of doumyouji in the manga is so much larger than life and one of his main characteristics is that his is so tall and powerful. (And neither tall nor powerful are normally adjectives I'd use to describe MatsuJun).
However, after watching the first episode, I'm pleased to see that MatsuJun's acting really carries it through and he does a great job with the portrayal of Doumyouji. He doesn't let his shortness or cuteness/prettyness get in the way. So, Good Job Jun-kun! <3
I also don't think it's bad to compare the two shows - that's kind of inevitable. I've watched MG and some of MG2 and I think the style of the shows are much different than the new Japanese version. MG tends to be more melodramatic, whereas the jdorama seems like it's going to be more campy. And that's a good thing - who wants to watch the same show twice? (or more like 3 or 4 times now if you include the anime, manga, and movies)
Sorry for i've been MIA-ing for a longggggggg time... was busy with a little surprise for everyone.
Remember that some time ago, i mentioned about setting up a arashi's forum?! I've been busy working on it. And it was officially set up on 01 Oct 05 (children's day).
I'm doing some last minute touch-ups and is targeting to officially launch the forum on 09 Nov.
Here are some sneak previews:
1. There are 2 different forum boards for downloading stuffs. The first one is open to general public and the second one is restricted to only the members of the forum. This will allow members to decide which thread do they want to post their downloads (if it is open to public or not)
2. Polls. All members are allowed to create and participate in polls.
3. Arashi's information. I've took time to gather information on our Arashi boys. There is a forum board just solely for such information.
4. Fan's corner: You can contribute or partipate in posting fan art, fan sites, your blog, your website, and fan stories (doesnt have to be related to arashi)
5. Most importantly, discussion boards are segregated into Arashi and general discussion.
No more worries about going off-topic as you can post non-related topics in our general discussion boards (don't have to be related to arashi).
6. And many more... will keep u all updated
Although the forum is set up, i will still visit jdorama.com... cos' i just simply love this place. ^_^ and i hope that you all can take time to visit my forum too. Check this place as i'll post the link to my forum once it is ready.

Guys! Look at this newspaper extract comparing Hana Yori Dango with Taiwan's Meteor Garden & Japan's movie version!
Gosh e gal who gave her comments is biased! Im not surprise if she's an F4 fan.
She said Jun's hair is oily & curly..for goodness sake, Jun's e one following closely to e manga hairstyle!
And i can't believe that she said that taiwan actress is the prettiest of all e 3 acting as Tsukushi! No offence, but i think she needs a pair of specs.
ehm...maybe some of you realize i'm pretty long member of jdorama forum, but i'm not really active posting here, but when i read about this articles, i just cannot help it >.<
i just want to say, that articles are fans based articles [made by a huge fans of F4]...but she missed a lot of point for HYD....i can say that HYD are even better than the japan movie [but she say the Jmovie are better ] and she always say's all the good things of MG [and there are no good things of HYD that she write >.<]
........blablabla.....i can go on forever if i want to critize this stoopid articles....
however...i just plainly laugh when i REALIZE...this articles are soo funny..."in a way"
this articles [or rubbish] is made on 2nd of november 2005, and HYD just aired on 21st of oct...[so logically that person only just watched atleast 2 episode's of HYD]...how can someone COMPARE the two drama just by watching 2 episode of HYD and a million times of watching MG?????? hahahhahaha....funny....yeah...this is funny.....huahuahauhahahahahah
ps:normal people should not compare turtles and the moon [no offence but i'm not really a big fans of both...but if people ask me, HYD is much better in terms of acting skill, talent, and FACES!!!]

minna-san, is there any news yet when will they appear in Utaban? will it be 17nov?
ARASHI members makes a cameo in an ARASHI member's drama...does this happens alot? or very rare?? So far, I've only seen this happened in "Yoi Ko no Mikata" x)
what are the possibilities that one (or better yet, the other 4) member/s of ARASHI make a cameo appearance in HANA YORI DANGO? you think it will happen? i mean, they sing the themesong...shouldnt there be chances for this?
Aaghhh....I really hope this wish come true!!^o^ hehe...
Just read a scene in the manga, where Tsukasa about to kiss Tsukushi in the ferris wheel...then right before their lips meet, the ferris wheel guard open the door all of the sudden and screamed, "arigatou gozaimaaaaasu!!!", smiling widely. Tsukasa grabbed his collar, "futsu ni akero yo!(open it normally!)". LOL!
Then, I was thinking, how funny would it be, if this scene appear in the dorama. And, omg! It would even be funnier if the ferris wheel guard played by one of arashi member!! haha...^^ _________________
with regards to the article. yeah, its more of the comparisons that they are trying the do that really gets to me. with regards to how and why the journalist does things this way (and it ain't the first time), i can only shake my head at how she does things.
yanie-chan: i've not read the manga, neither have i had the chance to watch HYD yet, but, i can SO imagine Jun doing that! LOL... that baka can so pull that off i tell you. and YES. it'll be really hilarious~

I've heard that they'll be on on the 17th. (and on Hey Hey Hey the 16th)
I'm happy they're going on Utaban - those are always fun interviews ^_^
Sawadasmile's right - It is Arashi's debut anniversary...or should I say, it was their anniversary since it's already the 4th in Japan. We all said congrats back in September, but I get the impression this is the more official debut anniversary since it's the anniversary of their debut event....So omedetou and happy 6th anniversary Arashi!
Edit: I heard it's now the 21st they'll be on Hey Hey Hey (which makes more sense since it airs on Mondays =P)
