As we have learned from the drama Shotgun Marriage this is not the case. Children are a blessing and bring good luck Sorry I just had to add that

Japan's birthrate falls to new record low
| Quote: | TOKYO - Japan's birthrate fell to a new record low of 1.29 last year, media reports said on Thursday, renewing fears about the country's ability to support its greying population in coming decades.
The rate, which measures the average number of times a woman gives birth during her lifetime, dropped 0.03 point from the previous low of 1.32 in 2002, according to Japan's public broadcaster NHK and major daily newspapers.

The latest figure showed Japanese mothers are increasingly having fewer children despite heightened government efforts to encourage families to have more babies.
The falling birth rate threatens to leave Japan with a labour shortage in decades to come as well as eat away at the country's tax base. The national pension system, which relies on current workers to support the elderly, also is strained by the falling birthrate.
To ensure the solvency of the pension system as the population ages, Japan's ruling coalition last Saturday rammed an unpopular Bill through Parliament that hikes the premiums citizens must pay while lowering the benefits retirees receive.
The Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan's largest daily, said the 1.29 birthrate is especially alarming because when the government estimated its pension costs, it assumed the birthrate would remain at 1.32 in 2003. The government also had predicted it would bottom out at 1.306 in 2007 before rebounding to 1.39.
The new record low indicates the government may have to raise premiums even higher.
The media reports cited government figures for the new birthrate. Health Ministry officials refused to confirm the reports, saying they had not made an official announcement. But an official at the ministry's Statistics Bureau said the number of babies born in 2003 fell 33,000 from the previous year to 1.12 million.
Japan's birthrate has been falling for decades, a trend largely attributed to changing values among younger generations of Japanese who find less fulfillment in marriage and children.
Japanese women have also delayed marriage and childbirth due to the difficulties of finding child care and weak support from companies and communities for working mothers.
But in recent years, Japanese policy-makers have started showing concern about the long-term impact rapidly dwindling numbers of children will have on the world's second-largest economy. The government has started building more day care centres, encouraged men to take paternity leave and companies to ensure equal opportunities for women.
Japan has one of the world's lowest birth rates, ranking closely behind Italy and other European countries.
According to a Japanese government think tank, Italy's birthrate stood at 1.24 in 2001, while Germany's was 1.29. The birthrate in the United States was 2.13. -- AP
| A little bit old, but i think still news worthy. Its not just Japan actually. Korean and a lot of countries in western europe has possibilies of population implosion as well too. Some offering 800 euros for the conception of a child.
Now, dangers of a population implosion
so all you europeans jdorama members who wants to earn a little change (money; l'argent; soldi; maybe even 돈) you know what to do. _________________

800 euros, that's not very much
In france, the rate is higher than in italy, cause of arabic people living there.
We watch on TV, some advertisements who says, Mind before acting, you'll have to pay 200,000 Euros for each child you have in your life...
Then you Mind -_-
But the government help a lot people of have 2, 3 children or more... Sometimes it can explain why poor people have many children, and many wives -_- They earn money like this -_-
For me I can help japanese if they need me... hmmm i'm still too young to have children, maybe in 2010 They'll have more than 1.5 in 2010

Fathers? I'd be the one doing the nine-month-deal and giving birth, my friend!
Guys, I meant mullets from the Japanese side....mullets are EVERYWHERE over there. But pretty Asian ones (which I like), not trailer park mullets (which I despise), okthxbye. I think I've discussed Japan's/Asia's mullets quite a few times on the board, huh? If they are genetic in Japan, I don't know (LOLOLOL), but they sure are rampant over there in the past year or 2.
