I saw this drama and I donft know what the name of it is, if you can help me out that would be great.
In the drama it has a love triangle between the mother, daughter and a guy (who looks to be half Japanese and half Caucasian)
Hmmm what else
The father of the daughter is kind of weird and in his office he has a huge picture of 2 eyes that can change colours.

That is all I can remember about the 1 eps I saw.
Also if you can give me a link as to where I can buy the DVDs that would be most appreciated

I'll go out on a limb and say the mother/daughter thing maybe sounds like Younger Men, but I don't remember it well, so the other details may not match.

(BTW, there is also a thread for getting help in identifying dramas).

I think it might be "Tadashii Renai No Susume" that just aired on TBS. It stars Wentz Eiji so that might be hapa guy she's talking about.

I was re-watching an old PV {shiina ringo - Stem} on my PC and was shocked to see clips from something with Koyuki in it!
There's also an adorable actor in it who I don't recognise. It looks pretty polished, was it a drama or a film? Anyone know about this?

Here's some caps:

Does anyone know the name of the j-drama that revolved around the life of the chef who invented Tonkatsu? I don't know the name of the stars but it aired sometime between 1982 and 1985 in San Diego while I was there for school. The main character was suppossedly the 1st japanese national ever admitted to some famous french chef school and the drama chronicled his struggle to adapt to the foreign country, language, and prejudices of the staff at the school. It also detailed his affair with a french prostitute and his personal life. As I recall the show's final episode revealed the fact that this guy was the inventor of Tonkatsu.

Anybody know where I can get it w/ English subs? Thank's a lot. I'e been waiting for 20 years to find this show!! Fingers crossed

PostPosted: Mon Nov 14, 2005 5:50 pm    Post subject: Another puzzler from 20 years ago Reply with quote Back to top

In 1982-1985 I was attending school in San Diego and watched the tail end of a J-drama that dealt with the life of a mistress. Her boyfriend and she were both in their 40s or 50s . He had a wife who was dying of some terminal illness and lived at a hospital or care home. Wife was aware of the husband's mistress (if I recall correctly) and silently tolerated it because she felt he needed a better companion. The mistress was also aware of the wife and always was plagued by the thought that she was hurting the wife's feelings. Husband was a businees man and had the financial wherewithal to support the mistress comfortably. In the end (again if my memory serves) the wife dies and the mistress upon learning of the death leaves the husband/boyfriend so as not to dishonor the deceased wife. This was a very sad and poignant (sp?) series that I am hoping someone can identify for me.

I would be willing to buy a copy of this as long as it has english subtitles. I've been looking for this for 20 years!! Please help!!! Fingers crossed

Thank you!!!!

I don't know if this is the proper place to post this, but I'm just trying to remember the title of a drama that I never knew the title of.

When I was in about 8th grade, that's around 1998, I saw this drama on the International Channel (I believe, either that or Los Angeles's KTSF) about this girl (call her girl 1) and this other girl who dances (girl 2) who fall for this dancer guy. I don't remember much else about it, but that dancer guy goes for the girl 1 and girl 2 gets jealous, but they're friends so she ends up forgiving her. girl 1 ends up being pregnant from the guy i think, and in the last episode has his baby and then dies for some reason. girl 2 ends up taking care of the daughter as her own, the end.

Does anybody remember or know this drama? It's been eating at me trying to find out the title of the damn drama.

Any idea what it might be called?

I believe the scenes are from a short film by Shiina Ringo, called Hyakuiro Megane.

I'm wondering whats the name of this drama that my cousin told me about.

He said that its a drama where everyone can't live beyond the age of 20 or something like that....He said he saw it on TV while he was in high school. So its like 5 or 6 yrs old...???

Ohayo gozaimas. Watashi-wa Ninhongo-ga scoshi wakarimas.
But mostly wakarimasen. I am learning.

I watched this series and enjoyed it immensly. I cannot remember any of the characters names or the Japanese title. Maybe someone will remember and help...

Here is the thumbnail version of the first synopsis.

There is a small coastal town and the chief industry/employer is a tuna canning factory. A big corporation takes over this small town cannery. So they send a high-powered, beautiful lady executive to oversee the operation to determine if the factory can be useful to the big corpration or they will sell it off the equipment and close it down.

Somehow, the decision to do all of the above will be decided by BASEBALL. The cannery has a team of misfits, poor athletes, and a few wannabees. They have to win the baseball game or the cannery will be closed.

The beautiful lady executive begins the series as a cold and efficient boss, but she is warmed and charmed by the locals.

Can anyone identify this series for me. Most likely circa 1995-1998 - somewhere in that period. It was broadcast in New York on cable.

The second one was from the same era, and I think followed this one - This was a series set in High School and the lead characters were a group of High School girls, who had to deal with getting good grades, and graduating. Getting into a good college. And of course romance.

One of the characters was named Madoka. And one of the boys was from the wrong side of the tracks. He had to work, as his family was very poor.
I remember that one of the girls commuted to school by train. That's all I can remember.

Can anyone identify this one?

Thank you so much.
Arigato gozaimas.

The first drama you mentioned is "Coach" which starred Tamaki Koji & Asano Atsuko:

Coach!

That's it - I appreciate the quick response and the fact that you nailed it.

I have another request - this one is from the same period -
I watched Coach, then the Girls in High School serial which still needs a name.

Then came a drama about the Prime Minister - name of the show please?

Then a serial about a Japanese owned, managed, and staffed restaurant but it specialized in French food -

Then a romance about a woman who falls for a married man who is an orchestra maestro.

Then one called Virgin Road - is this the one about a woman who is pregnant but not married and has a man who she mey on the plane from New York, pose as her fiance.

Now that I am learning Japanese, I'd like to watch these again. I am positive all of these shows came from the 1995-1996-1997 era. And I am even more amazed that I can recall them at all.
Thanks for any help.
