Japanese anime fans watch anime on TV/DVD/etc. Others read them via manga. As for me, I like building them!!!!
Before I got hooked on Jdorama, my hobby was building Japanese anime garage kits. They're basically made of white resin, and they come in pieces un-painted and un-sanded. You then have to sand every piece by hand, put them together using wire and epoxy, then paint them by brush or airbrush. And the process can take about 72 to 96 hours just for one, depending on your skill level and technique.
Here's one of my favorite pieces... Hand Maid May! If you like cute Japanese anime series, this is one you must watch. I finished painting her about four months ago, using airbrush and TAMIYA acrylic paints. Took me about 72 hours to complete. She stands about seven inches tall (just under 18cm). She is a kit a friend of mine brought back from Japan. Cute as a button!!!!

Btw. Does anyone know where I can get the bgm track 1 playing on the official Saikano site? Click on my www button to redirect to saikano. _________________
Cost - Original kits can cost around $50 to $150 un-assembled. Hand Maid May cost $65.00 (1/7th scale). As for the paints and such, not that much... Probably about $10 worth of supplies (paint, brushes, epoxy, paper clips, etc.). I've seen fully assembled kits for $150 to $200.
Here's another one I've completed... Aoyama Motoko from Love Hina, she's also known as "Kendo Girl", as Urashima Keitaro calls her as an insult. This kit is 1/5th scale, and is a copy from an original kit. She sits about 7-inches tall, and 8-inches long, making her quite huge for a garage kit. Much lower quality resin used in the molding, so it took some work to sand, and lots of putty to fill in the cracks. About a month after completion, the paint around her bottom started flaking, so I was forced to spray some clear coat to protect the paint job. If you've never seen or read Love Hina, I highly recommend reading the 14-volume manga first.
I watched Wolf's Rain not too long ago. Aside from the four episodes in the middle where they recapped the entire series (cheap producers!), the anime was mind-numbingly good.
Anyways, the best anime series of all time has to be the Rurouni Kenshin OVAS. THey still give me shudders whenever I watch them, especially the final scene, which was unbearably depressing.
Mmm...probably my second favorite are the Read or Die OVA's. I think they made a TV spin off of them becuase they were so popular. The anime was unspeakably smooth, and the characters were the most interesting out of any series I'd ever seen. Everyone should check them out.
And my third favorite would probably be the Vampire Princess Miyu OVA's. Those were so freaky! I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time.
I guess it's kind of unfair that I'm only listing OVA's here, but those tend to be much better in art quality and plot/character development. If anyone would like to hear my favorite TV series', I'd love to divulge it.
I really liked the Read or Die OVA's, those are up there too.

Hajime no ippo is great... too bad its incomplete
Wolf's rain is superb too. Wish those last 4 extras would come sooner...
And pot... i'm still craving for ep 96 every single day...
Just finished the original macross tv series. What a great classic. If you can, go buy it, its worth every cent of what i paid for the dvd. The ending was rather sad to me... Is there any continuation on manga or something?

Recently, the Movie Wonderful Days was big, but it's Korean, and the torrent is hard to find, if you have trouble finding it, do a google search. Also, leechers are getting off their Gundam Seed high, so everyone is back to watching the old stand bys, like Dear Boys, yawara, and the normal gundam series like V, X, and ZZ. There is also a new macross that will be availabel at the end of the month, 0 vol. 3, and I really enjoy Galaxy Railways, a new Leiji Matsumoto show.
Hmmm, what else is there. Oh some sexy commando batch torrents went up the other day, and that is by far the greatest show ever. That is if you like a bent sense of humor.
Also Lupin the 3rd series one and Space adventure cobra have been released. There are also two shows to take not of, if you're a manga fan then you should check them out. The first is Planetes( pron. Planet-ess) is a really cool story about space garbage men, or debris collectors. Read the manga and then watch the show, there is a huge difference betwween the two, but both good in their own ways. The second is Gunslinger Girl, it is very bleak, but effectively, it is a rather good show. The opening and ending themes are really good as well.

my 2nd best character that i like in love hina!!!waH!!!
and yes,i agree with you.for those people who haven't heard of love hina, don't watch the anime.read the manga instead!it's soo much better.but if u can't find it,then the anime's fine... =D
wow.your modelling and painting is impressive.i like how u did the 'wet shirt' effect!
i too do some modelling and painting, but unfortunately not anime resin.i do these small little miniatures of 1.5 inch high.gotta basecoat them and paint their faces and all...!!!
i'm still 'improving'....
=D
you got any nice aoyama motoko pics?

oh yea,now for the On-Topic part...
i suggest u guys watch Cowboy Bebop!!!it has lots of drama in it and it's currently the best i've seen.if you guys like drama then this is the anime to watch.no lovey-dovey scenes in it.just plain action drama!
frankly when i watch this,i don't feel like i'm watching an anime, but just like a drama!it's that good!
shinichiro watanabe did one hell of a good job presenting this!
