OMG! Utaban was so HILLARIOUS! I think it was the most hillarious Utaban with ARASHI episode! I've watched some Utaban w/ ARASHI which are also funny...but this one has gotta be the funniest!! LOL! I'll point out some points here:
1. How come ARASHI has never been called to Utaban for 1 year 9 months, though they've released some singles along this period of time, no?? Nino said, "we had never been called anymore since,". Nakai protested, "no! I've actually asked for you to be called, but you're the one who said got busy schedule(have no time for Utaban),". haha! it seems Nakai missed these kouhai-s!!^^
If im not mistaken, this what Nino said, "You called yourself?? No way! Coz we would definitely come, if you're the one who called. Senpai, dakara! Zettai, we'd come,". Nakai didnt believe him, "Really? You're just saying it arent you??". Sho, Jun, Aiba support Nino, "No, no...we'll definitely come,". "Really?? Do you also think so, Ohno?". Ohno answered, "nope...I dont think so...". STRIKE 1!!*LOL* Nakai stood up, but didnt do anything...haha!
2. Nakai said, "Hey look...dont you start saying weird things again, get it? I dont like starting that fight all over again... I mean, we're all grown-ups arent we? You're not kids anymore, right? You agree right, Ohno?". Ohno replied, "Nakai mo 33-sai dakara na...(i guess, Nakai is already 33 now...)". STRIKE 2!!! hahaha....the fight has started!! It really cracked me, how the other 4 members never got tired in blocking Nakai to pass thru to Ohno, since 2002!! LOL!
3. They talked about Hana Yori Dango. Then, Nakai started ramble on how it suppose to be awkward to watch other members' dramas, esp. when the love scene(KISS, esp) comes on. But Ohno just kept chatting away with Taka-san. "Oy! Ohno, did you listen?". Short replied with, "kitenai yo(nope),". STRIKE 3!! hahahaha!! After 3 years, Nakai finally get a grab on Ohno!!! LOL! haha...Nakai told Ohno to push him down, and Ohno did just exactly that! LOL! So obedient! xD Nakai was quite surprised actually, with how Ohno actually said, "HAI!" to that. haha...well, he actually did what you asked, Nakai-kun! xD
What cracked me also, is how Nino-Jun-Aiba immediately help Nakai to stand, and Nino scolding Ohno, "oy! Leader! This is our senpai! Senpai!".
4. A-RA-SHI A-RA-SHI...OH YEAH!! is hillarious!! LOL! Taka went, "Wrong?? For 6 years, I got it wrong?!?". Then, what is even more hillarious, Nakai said, "No...it was...A-RA-SHI A-RA-SHI...WANT ME,"....wahahahaha!!
I dont understand why ARASHI reacted so highly, when Taka mentioned KATTUN....reading minna's posts...now, I get it x) sou kaaa.....! I mean, normally, they should've just laugh it off, right? But they took a step ahead and even pleaded Taka-san, "No, no, please dont, we'll do it, we'll do the debut performance!". And their expressions were like saying "we've had enough of them," or "oh no, not them again,". I know some of you said, there was only friendly rivalry...but, when I observe their expressions once again...their faces expressed exactly that^^
HAHAHA!!! Sho's disbelief looks when Taka stopped them!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! then, I dunno why, I sooo love how Jun tried to explain with gesture, "next one is the...A-RA-SHI A-RA-SHI desu yo!". I love it!! (pls, dont ask why xD)
5. The next segment's theme is "Motto ARASHI Wakaku Mite Hoshi no"(We would like to see the young ARASHI again). But, how come its all Ohno who tested the acrobatic performances?!? LOL!LOL!LOL! xD
The part when Ohno felt dizzy.....haha, it was so hillarious!!! and I loooove this part, coz ARASHI's brotherhood immediately seen...as Sho-Aiba-Nino-Jun all went to Ohno asking, "Daijoubu? Daijoubu?", and help him to sit down!^o^ Nino and Sho even rubbed Ohno's back!! how sweet!
6. I hope no one missed this! At the very end of the program, after 30 secs of CMs, there was a 2-3 secs of Hana Yori Dango interview VTR! Oguri Shun asked Inoue Mao, "Who do you like in ARASHI?". Mao answered, "Aiba-kun,". Jun disappointedly smile!!!!!! KAWAAAAAIIII!!!! Hopefully, no one miss this precious 2-3 seconds moment!! haha! _________________

WOW thank you for the mini translation, I really liked this utaban even though I understood just some lil phrases that was awesome! I didn't know they were testing Satoshi's aecrobatic talent becasue they wanted to see 'young' Arashi ^^
and I don't have the Machan part on my file! could you cut the 30seconds and post it here? That would be great ... haha, that must have been a shook for JunJun not to be the fave Arashi member of the girl he kissed in Hanada haha~ poor bloke, but YAY Machan! DA GURLZ LUV YA~

Would like to share my views on ARASHI...
I'm a huge (if there's a word to describe larger than huge, I'll write that instead^^), huge fan of SMAP(Shingo-ichiban). What I love the most from SMAP and make me still a fan, even after more than 3 years, is their friendship, their brotherhood, their bond, and how COOL IMAGE is not something important for them, casual, natural, just act the way they are, have no worries at all, they will lose their image or respect from the public....not afraid to show their trueselves, is what I really admire from them.
Thus, I really have no interest with any other Japanese groups, including Johnny's groups. In my eyes, none of them has the same qualities as SMAP in the aspect I've mentioned above.
However though...my friend gave me a stack of other johnnys groups' concerts...KinkiKids, Juniors, Arashi, V6, Tokio...and I watched them all (in a fast-fwd mode =P). I gotta say, the only group attracted me enough is ARASHI. That time, I still dont understand why...and I didn't really consider it a big deal either. I've forgotten ARASHI, though they have attracted my eyes for a moment.
I watched StandUp...I come to like Nino very much! I watched Gokusen...I come to like Jun! But that's that....they are good actors, just like Tsuyoshi Dohmoto, Tomoya Nagase are also good actors...
Until one day, I went to the video rental shop for Japanese near my neighbourhood....I was only looking around, but the shop girl recognize me(coz I went there several times), and I have no idea WHY, she suddenly gave me 3 unused videotapes...she said, better than she throw it away, so she gave it to me. I was like, "Areee...???". haha, one of the video is UTABAN(lucky!)....and, it was dated February 20th, 2003, ARASHI guests.
I was stunned. I was stunned to see the bond and closeness between Nakai and Arashi members. I've never seen Nakai getting along that much with any other groups, except with the SMAP members. I have watched Utaban with V6, Kinki Kids, TxT, NEWS.....none of them have that kind of chemistry and bond with Nakai. How should I put it? Nakai and Arashi looked natural, relax, comfortable with each other. Ohno looked really comfortable to keep saying things about Nakai...LOL! With KinkiKids, indeed, Nakai talked many things about the past when KK was still SMAP's backdancers. But, with Arashi....I just thought its amazing, that probably they never have the chance to be SMAP's backdancers, yet they bond so much with Nakai. Of all the 3 eps of Utaban w/ ARASHI, I can see Nakai like Arashi the most among other Johnnys group, esp. Ohno! haha! FYI, Nakai really likes Tsuyopon the most in SMAP, that's why he often bullied him. I guess, the same thing, implies for Ohno! Nakai likes Ohno the most, that's why he kept picking a fight with him! LOL!
Turns out, not just Nakai...but SMAP! Music Station, Aug 5th:
1. SMAP was interviewed about Sample Bang concert tour. Then the interview changed to Arashi. Suddenly, Nakai walked to them and stand besides Jun, which kinda startled him^^
Sho said ARASHI just came back from a concert tour. Out of nowhere, suddenly Kimura bowed to Arashi, "Okaerinasai!". Which surprised them, of course, and bowed back^^
2. While ARASHI performing, Nakai actually stood up watching them!! Then, when they finished, Nakai kept screaming like a fan, "Arashi! Arashi! Arashi!". While, Kimura waving at them wholeheartedly. Tamori was wondering, "It seems we have ARASHI fans here....Arashi ga suki desu ka??". Kimura was about to pull up the microphone, but Goro replied first, "Hai! Suki desu!!!" ^o^ Then, Nakai screamed "Arashi!" for the last time! xD
Arashi wa...? They looked up in awe...haha!!
3. At the end of the show, SMAP and ARASHI stood side by side. Shingo put his arm around Jun's shoulder, and both smiling to the camera. Nakai making weird faces standing beside Nino. Kimura stood right beside Aiba and Sho, and it looked like he whispered something to them, Sho and Aiba were seriously listening, but laughed later. I wonder what did Kimura say?? xD
To me...to see SMAP interacting with their juniors, is something SUGOI! SMAP rebellious act back in 1996 to the agency, have caused them getting further and further from their kouhai-s/juniors (for many reasons), they were 'kind of' not allowed to join Johnny's events anymore, and is put in a different bucket as the other Johnnys groups. Thus, slowly, they lost contact with their juniors.
So, I'm really happy and glad to see them interacting with Arashi!^^ In the January MusicStation, SMAP have so little interaction with Tsuyoshi Dohmoto and Kokubun Taichi, they almost didnt talk at all. So, it surprised me even more, that they supporting Arashi like fans in the August MSta!^^ Really, I've only seen SMAP did that to Arashi...hontou ni! Really looked like, Nakai/SMAP is so proud of them!^^
Then, after I re-watched the Utaban eps...I realized what makes Arashi different than the other Johnnys group...is their similar qualities with SMAP. Let me repeat this, but this time I'm talking about ARASHI. They have friendship, brotherhood, and bond. COOL IMAGE is not something important for them, casual, natural, just act the way they are, have no worries at all, they will lose their image or respect from the public....not afraid to show their trueselves. Probably, this is why, Nakai looked the most comfortable with them, coz they reminds him of SMAP.
One more similarity with SMAP, all 5 members have their own spotlights. None is alot more popular than the other, slim difference of popularity, equal. Nino and Jun may acted in many dramas and movies. But when it comes to Utaban, Ohno will always become the leading role, snatching the spotlight. It amazed me, coz its suppose to be abt Jun's Hana Yori Dango, so it suppose to focus on Jun more, right?? How come Ohno is still the focus in Utaban?? haha! not that I mind! xD Im not sure about Sho and Aiba's spotlights....but Im sure they have their own qualities and specialties^^ Well, take this for example...I've only seen Sho in Utaban, whereas Ohno has always been the focus.....I really have no idea why, but I really had my eyes fixed on him already!! yabai!^^;;; Sho is in a different spotlight already, in my eyes!^o^
I see ARASHI has a big potential aura, that will get bigger slowly till it reach its peak. And one day, they may have a single as powerful as Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana^^

I loved that play-by-play by yanie_chan! i appreciate more the utaban interview.. that was just hilarious.. i could not help but crack up watching it.. and with your explanations.. only much more.. hehehehehehe..
compared to the other boy groups, arashi has been given perfect opportunities and they have capitalized on it. Although the road to being the "next SMAP" iis a path not wise to be taken, they might give em guys a run for their money..
