I don't know...but doesn't his popularity mean the most to Shuji? man I hate his class.....a bunch of shallow, fickle-minded people....I think the next episode will be a continuation of the ending of ep 7.....Shuji being lonely and sad....poor Shuji looks so defeated sitting at the playground, for all his popularity, he doesn't have any real friends..all the supposed "friends" around him are making use of him too

It`s quite a bit strange....this drama has so much PR but still....HYD seems to be much more popular...which do you think is better???...I love Nobuta wo produce, because it`s just freaky and I love Akira...he makes this drama so delicious and a must-watch!! But I guess HYD is quite more famous becoz there`s the Manga and the Anime, so of course...becoz it was so popular, people also wanted to watch the drama...and HYD don`t need that much PR, becoz it already has, through manga and anime...

I guess "Nobuta. wo Produce" isn't as popular as "Hana Yori Dango" because of the things you said--but also because the storyline for "NwP" isn't nearly as interesting as that of "HYD"! Near the center of the series, the episode with the ghost teenagers coming from a different high school completely changed the mood of the drama. We're not sure what category to put the drama in anymore--comedy/teen romance/emotional drama or comedy/funny sci-fi...? The principal, Akira's uncle, and the bookstore seller are supposed to provide some diversion from the 3 main character focus, but they're not interesting enough to do so. The only other character outside of the "3" (Akira, Shuji and Nobuko) that we can actually understand is Shuji's "almost-girlfriend."
"HYD" has a lot more characters who are fleshed out, side characters who engage you temporarily and keep up at a fast pace. "NwP" kind of lags until something monumental happens. However, when "NwP" does have it's humor, it's very cute.
I hope to see more of:
- Nobuta's step-father
- Nobuta realizing she has a crush on Shuji, perhaps
- Nobuta realizing that Akira likes her for who she is
- Shuji's transformation
- Akira's life with his uncle
Overall, I want to see more than just Shuji and Nobuta grow--it'd be nice to see more growth in Akira's personality besides his eccentricity.
yah it's so hard to classify Nobuta no Produce...it's supposedly a youth drama but there are supernatural elements and mystery thrown in too... that's the reason why I like it....but I don't understand the part about the ghost teenagers too....
Nobuta is pretty thought-provoking at times, not to mention touching, especially when u are seeing the school through Shuji's eyes...I think Shuji has grown, at least now he's finally able to face himself and be who he wants to be instead of what everyone expects him to be...just my lil' opinion

I think everyone in this drama has grown...so they produced themselves...but not only Nobuta, as they`ve planned...also Nobuta produced Akira and Shuji a lil bit...I guess...
I really hope, that for there future it`ll turn out to be the right thing...

ep 2 was the first done on BT, so i watched it...
the others are following as they d/l. Seems like an interesting series. The girl looked scary a bit at the start.
has some humor in this one, funny.

I think a big reason for its lower popularity than HYD is because it's on NTV. They are not as famous for dorama compared to Fuji or TBS. This series, 16ish percent rating is one of highest rating for a non-Gokusen NTV series.

haha..yeah.. Akira is really cracked up.....And Akira's character can be really annoying sometimes... But yet I love Akira's character.....haha... He's drunkeness is just way too adorable.. And to think.. Poor Yamapi has to act that like in every episode.. Must be very tireing trying to act drunk all the time.....haha

I dunno, but I think the change of Nobuta into a girl and the addition of Akira makes this drama really funny!!

1 litre is really good...but its such a different kinda drama u cant compare them...they have differnet charms to them.
Yes Akira was really drunk/high and annoying in the first few eppies...but his character has grown on me and the really drunk acting as died down to just akriaism....<---a fan girl talking here..haha...if u catch up to eppie 7 u'll see the mood will change...this drama is unpredictable-ish...
jcrina its not just u. i'm actually more excited to watch nobuta... cus i have no expectations of how the story will go...HYD is good, but i had expectations and i feel its whizzing thru the storylines i my eyes its lost its charm. I loved the Manga and its always hard to live up to the manga.

Yes, unpredictable!! that`s a major part of it`s charm!! the unpredictability (does this word exist?? ) And also HYD is a bit boring now, because really the manga is so famous and they made alreadu an anime!! but really the actors are good....I mean in both dramas HYD and Nobuta!!! I agree with you all that HYD loss out in terms of the surprises. I regretted watching the Taiwan version now.. I believe that Japan version is definitely a better version in terms of casts, plot, OST etc....
Back to Nobuta, I think it Akira is extremely kawaii. Totally change my impression on Yamap. I had watched quite a number of his dramas but did not leave much impression. I think this one should be considered as his best performance, at least to me.. Really like the hand sign - kiss followed by the "kon kon".. did I just wrote a spoiler??

Yah...i've watched Stand up, Dragonzakura and Long Love Letter and I really love his performance in Nobuta... In my opinion he stole the show from Kame who's the main character....he really make Akira believeable and kawaii despite being a misfit....he's the underdog u love...and I think after acting in Nobuta, there are so many acting possibilities for him
