Hey, I just saw this interview clip of Jun-kun from Oguri Shun thread... it's about his role as Sawada Shin in Gokusen!! Gotta watch, anyone who hasn't seen this!
-the narrator explains Jun's role as Shin in Gokusen-
Announcer: Your hair is kept long, did you let it grow for the drama?
Jun: No, I actually didn't. It's a wig. (Not the whole hair, but only the below part that seems sticking out)
Announcer: Eh!? Really?
Jun: Yes...
*The announcer tries to touch it*
Jun: No, please don't touch it. *pushes her hand away*
Announcer: Ah.. (sorry) *SHOCK*
Announcer: There are some fight scenes, but have you ever fought in real life?
Jun: I don't do things like fighting. (This answer really surprised me..)
Announcer: You detest it?
Jun: I detest it. I'm for peace/I'm a peaceful person.
Announcer: Ah... I see.
Jun: You see, I do fund raising.
Announcer: Fund raising!?
Announcer: ..... *silence* Ahaha...
Jun: Please don't trouble to make a reaction.
*all laugh*
Jun: You should fund raise. Do you?
Announcer: I only did for Akaihane-bokin... (a typical school-kid fund raising)
Jun: That's no good, being an announcer and all~

The rest of the clip isn't important. Now, What do you think?? I was surprised by Jun-kun's unexpected answers!! When he acts in fight-scenes he does them so you'd think he's pretty much used to fist fighting. o.O Actually, he's such a real cutey!! I fell for him all over again, now even more.... <3

Jerry Yan as Dao Ming Zhi and Matsujun as Doumyoji is like comparing apples and oranges.. It was Jerry's first time to act ever (in meteor garden). He was originally a male model and was tapped to play Doumyoji/Dao Ming Zhi in the Taiwanese version of the show.. Actually, all four members of the F4 had no acting experience, only modelling (except for Vaness Wu, who was an extra in the Run DMC video Its' Like That if you call dancing/breaking acting..)
Matsujun as Doumyoji is endearing. I love him to bits. But I respect Jerry Yan's performance as a newbie too. Meteor Garden was the major driving force for the F4 craze in Asia..

well yea thats because F4 wasn't F4 until meteor garden.... im not a big fan of the acting in MG and how they didnt go into side stories despite it being 19 epsidoes long... i guess that was part of the reason for MG2. but i love our matsujun as domyoji even tho he does have considerably more experience than jerry did, i think t hat its just differences in casting choices and what was more important.. im glad that the japanese producers didnt care about jun's height and instead wanted a good actor. i like it much better this way... rather than having the f4 all be really tall but with no prior experience cuz i dont count commercials really or breakdancing as acting experience... tho vann did get runner up or something on the vj talent so how thing which caused the producers of MG to find him...but thats not acting either
so in the end i prefer HYD sooo much more. and our jun is surprising me more and more w/every episode!

I wasn't a big fan of MG either.. it was a group of pretty people put together, but they pulled it off quite well, being first timers. hehehehe.. (I LOVE Vic Zhou in MARS)
At first I was wary at Matsujun being the brash Doumyouji.. But after watching the episodes.. there could've been no better Doumyoji than him!! He's perfect for the role.. You tend to overlook the height difference in his scenes with Shun-kun.. What Matsujun has is presence. That's what makes his character shine in the series (or any series for that fact).. But then again, I'm a big Jun fan so biases are so evident.. hehehehe.
P.S. I hated MG2. Seriously. I hated it. Why did they even bother.. They should have made a graduation special and that would be it.. (hehehe. hung over from Gokusen)

thanks for the clip peaceb. if u have noticed, Jun is a guy that is not very comfortable with ppl touching him, unless he initiates it. so that clip is not a surprise if he did not allow the announcer/reporter to touch his hair.
from his other interviews, he does seem very gentle hearted and not the violent type. he would rather reason to death instead of fight to death. that's just the impression i get from reading his interviews and such.
as for comparing between him and Jerry in both versions of HYD and MG, i definitely prefer the HYD version. the Tsukasa portrayed in HYD by Jun is still a better one. acting skills aside, Jerry just does not have that presence to make much of an impression.

i hated MG2 also. even tho it went into side stories, they couldve done that in MG1, and do ACTUAL ORIGINAL side stories. it was way too long too... argh and it was just... soooooooooo bad haha wont even go into that!!!
but i totally would pick jun too... despite the stupid height difference, the acting and the whole feel of the character.. jun portrays it soo much better. you really get a feel for how he is inside, and his expressions are great! jerry's expressions, i just.. i dunno. for my HYD project i showed one of the scenes in MG and HYD, and i showed the rain scene.. i was very disappointed w/the way jerry screamed in a monotone the whole time, whereas in the rain scene in HYD, jun is just really able to pull it off- the arrogance, the cold, his relief at seeing her and everything...
arwenna- i could not have said it better myself!! jun has soo much more presence than jerry in that role and its amazing!! i love love love it!! _________________

oh gosh, MG!! i totally stopped watching a couple of episodes into the second season. it was soooo awful!! blah.
but i agree, jun portrays it so much better and he's more of what i pictured doumjouyji to be, especially with his personality and temperament. yay for jun!! _________________

I'm in love with Jun's Domyoji Trukasa very much. When I watched the MG, I expected Rui could won the girl. But when watching the HYD, I just believe Domyoji is the Mr. Right for the little girl. Although I like Shun also, but can't compete with Jun. He's such an amazing boy, suprising fans all the time.[/img] _________________

and talking about Tokyo Tower, I finally managed to watch it. And I think that role suited Jun perfectly...offcourse, he was perfect as Sawada & Momo too...and he's super perfect as Doumyoji....but I find he really stuck out in Tokyo Tower.

yup...totally agree with this and other comment that people post previously...
in MG i really want rui to be with makino...and when sancai 'betray' dou ming tse, i was just...GREAT!! you go girl just leave him and go for hua ce lei....jerry acting its just a bit off i think...and in HYD i really love domyoji!!! and hoping domyoji will be with makino...
also being biased here..but i also like MG1, but totally despise MG2

welcome here!!! yes... jun's acting is sugoi in hyd... soo impressive... for me, personally, he's really proven his acting skills in this drama
ayum- yeahh, jun was soo diff in tokyo tower... it was really amazing. i need to watch it again and compare hehehe i remember thinking how scandalous it was before! hehehehehehe _________________

Minna! Jun is No. 8 in the top 50 artistes on this forum! He is sure climbing up the charts! Before hyd he was between 10th-15th postition then when hyd started, he became no. 10. This is definately good news! _________________

i love jun more each day!!! i just saw his la familia solo performance... i can't stop watching it~ and everytime i listen to the song i just smile and all my friends likes im but omg his walk is too sexy i can't get enough of jun.. b/c i haven't been lucky with finding tokyo tower and kimi wa petto. i think im going to buy it off ebay... and RARELY buy stuff. only burn.. but for jun i think its all worth it!!
as for the whole jun surpassing kimura takuya. i dunno. when i watched long vacation. it was just okay.. nothing big for me.. i got tons of his dramas (pride&h2 etc) but i can't get past the first episode weird eh? i think one reason is kimura takuya looks wonbin (korean actor) and im a huge wonbin fan (for acting & his looks) i can watch kimura's drama without thinking bout wonbin lol... but i mean someone has to take over his "place" soon!~~ i believe jun can make it if he continues to work hard i think jun have the "it" factor and the charm.. but i could be bias because im very obsess with jun right now

i knew HYD would bring more girls here... i originally fell for him in gokusen... and did the same thing, went and watched kwp, kindaichi, tokyo tower... was sooo happy when HYD came out!! i remember the anticipation... omg sooo bad.
and yes... arashi music is greattt... no wonder im hoooked (there is NO turning back for me!! hehehe)
anyway, i wanted to stop in here and give our darling jun a hug... (or three )... because of the whole mess w/the stupid nominations... and our jun getting cheated of recognition that he deserves... hope jun is doing okay and that he knows he has tons of loyal fans out here who are majorly disappointed with those producers... _________________
I'm new here, but I joined this forum just to post on this really (really really really) long thread on MatsuJun after reading about half of the posts here. I got snared by the Jun bait in HYD with his role as Domyouji Tsukasa. Ahhh... I'm obsessed! After watching episode 3, I went out and researched on him and ended up downloading and watching Gokusen, KwP, and Tokyo Tower. And according to my Winamp, I'm also an Arashi fan now, too... x_x;;
