I read that Designer was at the top of the ratings for afternoon shows Go Rio-chan! It was based on a manga by Yukari Ichijo.
"The story revolves around a rivalry between an isolated model, Ami (<=Rio), and a top level fashion designer, Reika"
Yukari Ichijo Manga adaptations are on top of Japanese TV
Two manga by Yukari Ichijo, Designer and Tadashii Renfai no Susume (Advice for Sane Romance) currently have live-action adaptations airing on Japanfs TBS network.
The two series come from very different periods of her career and were created for the same audience, but for very different perdiods in that audiencefs life. In 1974 Designer was serialised in Ribbon Magazine, a shoujo magazine geared towards elementary school girls.
Tadashii Renfai no Susume was released some twenty years later and was serialised in Young You, a magazine for adult women.
Today Ichijofs manga are particularly popular with women in their 30s and 40s who have been following her career since they were children and the two TV series are succeding in the afternoon soap-opera slot.

i am having a difficult time coping with this news...LOL j/k, not...
but i am still refusing to believe this, as i think she is mixed, like aya hirayama, how can she be full 100% japanese!, it's not fair...
ok, whatevers...if she is, she is, but i still think she is mixed cause look at her beautiful eyes...are those asian eyes? full asian eyes?!
