I'm going through Engine right now, and I find it to be pretty good, actually. Sure, the on-air chemistry with the main female lead isn't there. But I find Kimura's interaction with the kids hilarious and engaging.
Now what I didn't like was Pride...the whole weak, submissive, timid, saint-like self-sacrificing behavior of the main female character and the over-the-top masculine, patriarchal attitude of Halu annoyed me to no end (though now that I think of it, maybe it's a reflection of societal attitudes in Japan...).
Now I know I've annoyed all the Pride lovers out there. Sorry!
Hahaha.. don't worry!! I loved Pride but yeah.. sometimes.. it was just too testosterone driven for me.. (Halu and the team screaming their head off and Aki just crying at everything that can be cried over) I don't even like the female lead as much.. (the chick from Good Luck would've kicked her butt in a celebrity deathmatch) I just loved it because of three moments. Seriously. The shots of Kimura in this dorama were really good.. *beams*
Engine with Koyuki was weird too.. I feel like Kimura needs to find his perfect pair.. or maybe he's too good looking for himself that he doesn't need another co-star.. hehehe..

hahs.. i too agree that he's too perfect that he doesn't need another co-star.. but dramas ought to have a two leads(a male & a female), isn't it??

Aw, I love PRIDE and his pairing with Teckuchi Yuko. They were perfect I think he have great chemistry with her comparing to his other female costars and you can tell it too. He seems very intersted and I'm happy on that account so to me, he have met his match and that's with YUKO in PRIDE

pride is definitely one of kimura's better works...it evidences a maturity in his acting ...i do agree with some of the stereotypical notions in the characterizations of the two main actors but that in no way takes away from their performances....kimura takuya is a pimp.

i thought that Kimura and Matsu Takako in love generation series, she was his match, as a co-star. That was a really great series.
also, i haven't seen engine or pride yet, but in Pride, Yuko Takeuchi is Kimura's co-star? maybe she has potential to be a good co-star alongside kimura...

kimura takuya playing a blind swordsman avenging his wife...a film directed by yoji yamada

Yoji Yamada's final Samurai film 'Bushi no Ichibun' set to go
(Posted In Action Asia Drama Film News )
Shochiku Films announced at the end of this week that the third and final film of Yoji Yamada's samurai trilogy is being prepared to start filming in 2006. Bushi no Ichibun based on a story by Shuhei Fujisawa, who also wrote The Twilight Samurai and The Hidden Blade. It follows the relationship between a young samurai who loses his eyesight during a mission and his wife. She eventually sacrifices herself in order to save her husband's honor.
Principal photography on Bushi no Ichibun is slated to start in early 2006. Takuya Kimura [of 2046 fame] will star in the lead role as the young blind swordsman.

Yeah, Kimura was pretty hot in this one too - it was just the plot that was irksome for me, not the acting.

It seemed to me that she was perpetually high-strung and nervous the entire time. Maybe she was nervous sbout acting next to Kimura. lol
Takuyo solo? Who would he awe with his total sexiness then...

He is a little bit different in this drama from his normal good guy characters - a lot of emotional outbursts and etc.. Never seen him yell so much...

I love this pair - they have such great on-air chemistry. *sighs* Even in Hero, where the romance was absolutely low-key, you could feel the (sexual?) tension btw the main characters. Kinda like Mulder and Scully from the X-files.
I am trying to find Matsu Takako clips from when she was on SmapxSmap, but currently having no luck. I know she's been in a guest in 2001, 2003 and 2004.

That's a great idea! . . . j/k
The mood is all wrong though. I mean, you have like 150 people watching, plus the camera. Not very romantic, even if you keep on kissing... Maybe, they were just shy or they sucked. Then again, they are both great actors. _________________
