I just saw this thread. It's been up for a while, no? What a great topic.
I have but one response, though (and, yes, the large bolded font, as always, IS warranted):
Tony Leung (as Mo-wan Chow)
and
Maggie Cheung (as Li-zhen Su)
in
Wong Kar-Wai's
In the Mood for Love
Yeah, you can say The Man's getting all mushy, but I don't care. Leung and Cheung are so good in this film . . . oh, man, I was gonna go on and on . . . but you must needs SEE this film if you already haven't.
On the very surface level, you want the best for these characters. What a wonderfully textured film.
They bring you back to your most eclectic moments if you've ever been in love while underscoring reactions you never thought you had.

Do you know that they did have an affair in real life. Basically, Tony Leung long time partner is Karina Lau..and the love triangle among Leung, Lau and Cheung has always been in the spotlight of the media in HK.

This made me remember Lau's nude photo incident some years back, Tony Leung was giving her his support all the way. Those reports of an affair might be news exaggerated by tabloids to increase their sales. Well if their own words can be believed, I think I have read about them denying the truth of such rumours before.
As for best onscreen couple, currently watching Summer Snow and I think Dohmoto Tsuyoshi and Hirosue Ryoko makes a great pair!

I think Tsumabuki Satoshi & Shibasaki Kou looks good as a couple in Orange Days... Tsumabuki & Konishi Manami together feels kind of strange to me... Konishi Manami with Kashiwabara Takashi looks kind of strange too...

i totally agree with you. maggie cheung and tony leung are really hot in "in the mood for love." they just look great together, even in that wine commercial. guess that's the reason why the carina lau-maggie cheung-tony leung triangle wouldn't die down.
