Actually, since its my all-time favorite anime comedy, I'm thinking of making a signature for it and having a raw version without subtitles is a better source for clips.

or wait till march-april for the dvds

Nope, I've never seen it... Eventually, I'll have all of the Studio Ghibli films on DVD... It's just a matter of time... At this point, Kiki and Mononoke are my two favorites...

Out of all the anime movies i saw Graveyard of the Firefly stood out the most. It really depressing but very moving. YOu forget that it that it just a cartoon. I saw many movie and documentary about WWII and it usually from the American perspective. This movie gave a more human and more depth into how war affected the average person in Japan. I almost cried many times. I think this movie should be shown in high school history class. I heard it was base on a true story.

man,it seems like i have to watch this....
but yet again,i can't watch depressing shows....or maybe i can?

and yea,i have to admit.azumanga is the best comedic anime for me.no doubt about it!
i just LOVE osaka!
and i like the tomo-yomi combo.never fails!

it's hard to believe that the seiyuu for tanizaki yukari is the same seiyuu of kobayakawa miyuki from "You're Under Arrest".....they sound so different!one is so gentle[miyuki] whereas the other is....undescribable

Yep. That movie is on my wish list. I've heard/read that it's a very good but intense movie...

Btw Laputa by AX release doesn't display the subs properly, some lines are missing. Checked out partly.

watched disk1 of Laputa, there's definitely some problems on the japanese audio track. Looks like they only capture center and front channels. So background dialogs arent heard, only subtitles Sad

Watched Cat Return last night. As we know it's a Studio Ghibli movie which means quality is guaranteed Smile An enjoyable movie. Baron (Whisper of the Heart) is featured in the movie, a very sophisticated and well mannered cat. It was kinda a "sequel" to Whisper of the Heart.

The story is about a high school girl Haru (a voice actress Chizuru Ikewaki who has also acted in Summer Snow drama) who saves a cat from an accident. It turns out the cat is a prince, he is able to talk and he says he'll return his gratitude later. A little later Haru is taken to the kingdom of the cats in order to marry the cat prince. There must be some kinda misunderstandin Wink

I haven't seen it yet, but since it's from Studio Ghibli it's probably pretty good... There should a number of Region 1 DVD releases from Studio Ghibli next year: Nausicaa, Totoro, etc. ... I hope.

I don't know if they'll be picking up "The Cat Returns" though since it's not Miyazaki.. So yeah, I'll have to go with the R2 disk. Although that would have to mean buying a region free dvd player. Damn. Forgot to ask for that for christmas. Ah well. Sweat I need to pick up some more Ghibli films.

I would hope that they would include The Cat Returns since it's part of Studio Ghibli's catalog, but you never can tell with Disney... They're dopes when it comes to the Ghibli stuff... Crazy

Yep! The disks are more expensive than R1's of course but they usually seem to come with extra's disks and stuff. ^_^ I've been tempted to even buy some of the R2's *instead* of the R1's. $50.. Isn't THAT bad. Sweat

http://jlist.com/ has Ghibli R2 dvd's.
http://jungle-scs.co.jp/en/ might have some too..
http://www.otaku.com/cgi-bin/productlist.asp?newsearch=1 also appears to have some. Big Grin

Well, I'm currently watching:

Texhnolyze: it's gritty, bloody and violent but it has a good storyline to go with it....of course it's a confusing storyline....

Peacemaker Kurogane: I luv samurai shows and this anime takes me back to Rurounin Kenshin - one of the first anime series I watched (first was Fushigi Yuugi Sad )

The Cat Returns was really good - but I usually like most Ghibli films anyways.

my favourite stays NGE, it was my first anime that I watched from episode 1 to the final episode, and it'll stay my #1... *also likes Record of Lodoss War, mainly because it reminds me of a D&D session I once had lol*
