Actress Haruka Ayase greets fans at Tokyo film preview
Actress Haruka Ayase greeted fans on Thursday during a preview screening of the short film "Taberu Ki Shinai" (I don't feel like eating), a lighthearted production based on the image of her debut song "Period."
"It's a comical movie and a work that women can really relate to," the 20-year-old actress said as she greeted the audience at a movie theater in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
"Period" is a work jointly produced by Takeshi Kobayashi and Kaori Mochida. It will be released on March 24, Ayase's birthday, and will be sold together with limited edition DVDs of the short film.
The short film is directed by Yumiko Ito, who worked on a commercial with Ayase for the "Pocari Sweat" sports drink. It tells the humorous story of a girl played by Ayase who loves to eat, but who loses her appetite after breaking up with her boyfriend.
Ayase said all the eating scenes in the film made her put on weight.
"I felt like I was eating all day, and at the end of the filming I was three kilograms heavier," Ayase said, adding that the best scenes in the film were the ones in which she was eating.
When asked if she would really stop eating after breaking up with a boyfriend, she replied, "If something bad happens, I tend to eat instead."
She said she had fun during the filming of the movie, enjoying a dip in a hot spring with the director.
The production will be screened in Tokyo's Shibuya-ku between Jan. 27 and Feb. 5, and between Feb. 11 and 17 in Osaka. (Mainichi, January 27, 2006)
