A synopsis of "KISARAZU CATS EYE" from TBS TV :
"Points to Watch"
What would you do if you only had one day left to live? What if you had one week? This drama addresses these difficult but often asked questions and gives new and real answers. In the lead role Junichi Okada of V6 is joined by Sho Sakurai of Arashi and Wakana Sakai making up a group of up-and-coming young talent. Sadao Abe, Aiko Morishita and Hiroko Yakushimaru add character and variety to the cast.
The script is by Kankuro Miyafuji who caused a sensation last year with "Ikebukuro West Gate Park." Set against the backdrop of Kisarazu in Chiba Prefecture, it depicts the frustrations of adolescence with a comical touch and shows how the hapless young cope with vital friendships, life and growing up generally.

A synopsis of "KISARAZU CATS EYE" from TBS TV :
"Storyline"
Kohei Tabuchi (Junichi Okada), known as Bussan, is a 21 year old former high school baseball player. He works everyday at the barber shop owned by his father, Kohei (Fumiyo Kohinata). One day, he is told he is terminally ill with cancer and has at the most 6 months to live. Not wanting to die with any regrets, he decides live as he likes and forms a gang of thieves called "The Cats."
Futoshi Nakagomi a.k.a. Bunby (Sho Sakurai), Sasaki a.k.a. Ani (Takashi Tsukamoto), Okabayashi a.k.a. Master (Ryuta Satoh) and Uchiyama a.k.a. Uchi (Masanori Okada) were all in the same baseball team during high school and still play together on the weekends for the "Kisarazu Cats." Their target is their former baseball coach Nekoda a.k.a. Toraneko (Sadao Abe). They enlist the help of Nekoda's girlfriend, Mohko (Wakana Sakai) and ultimately succeed. They go out to celebrate and Kohei tells his friends that he is dying.
However his friends don't react much, telling him not to talk of such things. But in reality they are grappling with the concept of the death of a friend which has left a mark on each of them. Meanwhile, their original target, Nekoda, while also coming to terms with Kohei's announcement, begins nightly secretly maneuvers..

Sorry I dug this thread out from its resting place, but I had to say something because this is one of my favorite dramas ever. (hey, I bought the $150 DVD set...that HAS to say something! )
Kisarazu is definitely NOT dark. It's the total opposite. Yes, it's true that the story seems dark with just a glance, but Kisarazu is so much more complex than that. It's pure comedy with its touching parts. At one point you're laughing your head off and the next second you're using up a whole box of tissues to muffle your sobbing.
It's truly a shame how underated this drama is. I must admit that it might not match the taste of everyone (it's just too dang crazy and unconventional) but those who like it LOVE it. Kisarazu is definitely for those who are jaded with all the other standard and cliched dramas out there. I also think it has one of THE BEST endings in Japanese drama history. (I absolutely hate those dramas that start off good and have totally sucky endings!)
I'm very happy that Kisarazu did leave its mark on Japanese viewers because they just made a movie for it. I'm gonna go see it next week and I'm really looking forward to it. Hisashiburi da nyah~!!

I would absolutely love to translate Kisarazu if it means more people will be able to enjoy it, but I'm totally clueless about how people subtitle and upload dramas... I think a lot of the jokes would be lost in translation, but I think it would be SO cool if someone managed to do its justice.
Ani and Mastaa were on Tokyo Friend Park tonight to promote the movie. Tsukamoto Takashi (Ani) is really eye candy, but it was Sato Ryuta (Mastaa) that did all the winning for them. I was surprised how athletic he was!

I watched the drama just last week, and i really like the way they file the show, ie rewinding and such. but the story is too crazy for me and i didn't really understand the point of the drama.
Only complain was that I didn't get to watch esp 4. there was something wrong with the disk I was watching.
Ah, I like Ani! HE is soooo cute, esp the way he kept asking others about his name!!
... my last statement is not spoliers is it?
