[quote="bruisedlee"]1. i was just wondering about the doumyouji mansion... do you think it was shot on location in japan or in some other country? for some reason i couldn't picture a house that massive in and around cramped tokyo. well maybe if somebody's filthy rich like the doumyoujis they can afford to buy a huge parcel of land and build an equally huge house on it.
2. about mimasaka akira - are his parents part of the yakuza or something?
3. and are tea ceremony schools really that big of a deal in japan?
4. do you think the "fabulosity" of eitoku and its students was exaggerated, or could a school like that actually exist?quote]
hmm... really interesting questions to ponder upon o-o
Q1. i have no idea. o-o it is universally known tat most of the jap-ppl live moderate lives in cramped apartments due to high living costs. but i guess maybe the very-rich-minority do live in exaggerated mansions, like say the heirs of toyota? fujitsu? sony? haha. but i don think the drama should have enough budget to talk these minority elites into lending them their mansions o_o
Q2. according to the drama, ya, mimasaka's parents were the heads of famous & influential gangs. oO; according to the manga, no, mimasaka's mother is practically turning their mansion into a living green house with all those flowers & delicate chinas o-o; big contrast. however, i'm not sure wat mimasaka's family business was.
Q3. HECK YEAH O_O i'm not jap or anything, but as far as i'm informed, the family who owns/ runs/ practises these formal tea ceremonies are really wealthy in jap. i've seen several dramas & mangas tat indicate heirs to these business are really really rich o-o but i don have the slightest clue y is tat so *thinking hard*
Q4. no idea either. guess there should be an elite school such as tat somewhere, but i highly doubt there would be any (let alone 4) autocratic boys running the school as they like

I definitely liked HanaDan better than Meteor Garden. Well, that's just me 'coz I've always been a fan of the manga and the anime ( 6 years and still going strong because of the TBS version).
Meteor Garden was an okay attempt though they did get the story as close to the manga as they could. It's just that the actors weren't convincing enough for me.
I love HYD! erm -- to me both versions (HYD & MG) were great. But hey, I really think Mao is better than Barbie Hsu... she's much cutter and adorable..
AAHHH! I can't believe it's so so so short!! sometimes I think it's really abrupt or something... I want more and longer romantic scenes with jun & mao... they are so cute together!!

Hope there will be a second part!!!
i agree. HYD was a bit short. I haven't read a lot of the manga but i'm sure they could have added 2 more episodes (11 episodes for a series is what i prefere).
like what you have said. Rui and Makino definitly should had more parts. I think those parts would fit greatly in to the first half of the series. and later, they should have shown more scenes with tsubasa ana makino.
Waaaaaaa... sugooooooiiii! Thank you for posting this! British Hills is gorgeous. Oh... there's the snooker room and the "Harry Potter" refectory!
And to youhei_mito - thanks for your response! What you said about the tea ceremony schools is interesting. I guess because they're steeped in tradition and that the tea ceremony is a very special ritual. I guess I have to look more into this! ^__^

I never really knew about the Taiwanese verison of Hana Yori Dango. I heard it wasn't all that great besides, if MatsuJun isn't in it to play Doumoyji, then it MUST have sucked! ^_^
The actress who played Tsukky is very very good! Believiable even!
I loved the ep when Tsukky and Dou where both stuck in the elevator together, highly cute!
I sorta skipped over a few eps to see the end but its a great drama!
Whats the name of the actress who plays as Shuzuki(sp)? The woman who Rui loves who is suppose to be a model?

Mayumi Sada played Shizuka Todou, Rui's love interest.

HYD is definitely better than MG but MG is not that bad to be hated
MG follows the manga better and because of that there were some flaws and also too long which makes it a little boring sometimes
HYD was not strict with following the manga but the story is because of that more realistic
and the acting in HYD was better

I agree that HYD is better than MG, but MG is still really enjoyable. It did follow the anime and manga better than HYD did, but the 2nd season went off the deep end. Still MG 1 had some of its great moments. Gotta love the animal prints and headbands from the mid 90s. hehehee.
Oh, the theme song for MG gets stuck in your head really easily. it's a nice song but still, it's one of those repeating songs over and over in ur head. hehe _________________

I want to see what's the problem with MG(or rather the tawianese verison) of HYD. Mhmm, too bad I can only look up stuff on Youtube. I wouldn't dare dl anything on this craptastic computer!
HYD was great though, the casting was damn good...
Sada Mayumi eh? She is so classy looking!
Too bad she only between in two dramas so far. I have to see her in Otona no Natsu Yasumi!
The actress who played as Tsukky was great, the entire cast was believeable but I sorta hated her family. They are just a bunch of free-loaders! *lol*

hmm, I've actually never watched MG, because I'm not really fond of the TW F4...
some people i know say that the tw version is better, but in my opinion, although I've never seen MG, HYD is still going to be better~ XD

To be honest, I can't picture watching the MG verison.
The Japanese F4 just seem so much BETTER to me. I mean come on, MatsuJun is hot and he is the leader of the F4 in this show!
What more can I ask for?
Besides, the guy who plays as Rui...is amazingly gorgeous.
The Japanese verison of HYD is my fave, hands down!
