it's like with this picture....if you look just beyond the glass wall/door..you'll see the rain shower head above....the water actually drains into a long horizantal drain that's located where the stone bathtub enclousure meets the floor...it's hard to see but i think one can get the picture.

Ok, thanks. I like it better that way. Shower first is a good thing. Especially, since the water in their bathtub looks thick and white. I wasn't sure if they changed the water once a month or they just put stuff in it.
Isn't this the Grand Hyatt? The pictures ring a bell. _________________

yeah it is the grand hyatt...i was trying to dig up some pictures from this onsen i went to, to illustrate the point but the pictures are not very clear because they were taken in the evening....
i know what you're talking about seeing that milky looking water...i think they add minerals or something to the water for relaxation or other medicinal purposes....like bath salts or bath teas, you know.

I remember reading something about fake onsen where they put stuff in regular water to make it more milky looking. I think you're right, I think it was minerals. _________________

yeah there were reports in odaiba and other parts of japan that certain onsen were claiming certain medicinal properties of the water due to natural mineral content but they were faking that shiet.

August 2004
Shukan Post reported recently that one of the hot springs of the Shirahone Hot Springs chain in Nagano Prefecture, favored by bath-nuts around the country for its milky white water, has been artifically colored with store-bought bath salts. The head of the union of the Shirahone hot spring inns, Yoshio Kohinata, admitted that the report is true.
Kohinata said that ever since the natural source of the hot spring stopped producing its milky white color eight years ago, the spring has been artificially colored with commercialized bath salts. Kohinata also revealed that out of the 13 unionized inns in the prefecture, two other inns have been using the same brand of bath salts to color their hot spring water.
On July 13, the Matsumoto Health Department of Nagano Prefecture ordered the said hot spring to be temporarily closed until further notice. The hot spring association of Nagano Prefecutre also plans to conduct an emergency investigation of all 1,150 hot springs in the prefecture to make sure the natural elements in the water's sources have not been tampered with.
Nagano Governor Yasuo Tanaka also surveyed the area on the 14th and announced that he will be conducting investigations into all of the 13 unionized inns, as well as produce a hot springs manual which will compile research findings.
But the incident has shed light on how the the problem is not contained to Nagano. According to research conducted by the Environment Ministry, out of over 2 million facilities in the country that provide public hot springs, not even 10% use pure, uncontaminated water taken directly from the natural source.
In Kagoshima Prefecture, a hot spring famous for its unusual green color was revealed to be the result of dissolving household "Bath-Clean" bath salts into the water. Further claims of "fake onsens" have been surfacing continuously over the country. However, ministry officials are reluctant to act quickly against the problem on grounds that they do not possess the right to act in a matter they still consider as private. You can. It must be healthy. Wood is low fat and full of fiber and the varnish will make the place colorful with pink elephants and fractals.

Yep. It sucks here. Walmart and Costco are kings, that must be it. Cheaper is better.
I saw a nice place last night. A new hotel/casino in Vegas. Only 2.3 billion... A regular suite at $5000 a night and it even has a Ferrari and Maserati dealership in it plus the Vuitton and stuff. _________________

That would be the Wynn Hotel. I've seen the Maserati dealership inside the properties.

i went to this really nice french chocolatier in roppongi hills, it's called "chocolat de h" http://www.lcdh.jp/
...they had the environment so closely monitored with regard to temperature when you purchase chocolates from their store they only let in a few ppl in at a time so that the body heat from customers doesn't change the temperature and humidity of the store beyond the optimal levels in order to preserve the taste of the chocolates...
moreover...it was raining outside...before my friend and i left the store they took the bags they placed our chocolate in, and put a transparent plastic wrap over and around the bag so that neither the chocolates or the bags would get wet...that's FUGGIN service man!!!
