Ive recently finished Gokusen (which, IMHO, was infinitely better than the anime version) and one of my personal favorites now, Densha Otoko.
The way they make everything from the acting, the cinematography, scripts, etc. is just simply amazing. I never imagined that I would actually like dramas this much.

Welcome! It's always good to see another Filipino on board. Haha, that's how many anime fans became jdrama fans... through GTO. It's an awesome show.

Uhmm.....did anyone here got into Tamiya mini 4WD racing cars? I was looking for my technical drawing kit at my cabinet kasi hinihiram ng pinsan ko yun, when I came across the drawer that I haven't opened for a long time. Nung binuksan ko yun, the drawing kit was there, and also my Tamiya tool kit with my racing car, Knuckle-Breaker Black Special . And when I saw it, I just remembered the days where I spent almost all my money just for upgrading and setting up this racing car for tournaments .
Hehe wala lang, just sharing one of those Japanese stuff that became a big craze here in our country .

Yeah GTO is still one of my favorite manga/anime of all time. I was glad that the jdrama version did justice to it. Btw, thanks for the recommendations link.

As for flopping, baka mag flop lang siya kung hindi familiar sa anime yung mga nanonood, baka ma weirdohan sila sa mga special effects. Pinas naman to e, kaya sa tingin ko magegets naman ng mga tao yung comedy scenes nila. Yun nga lang sana matino yung dubbing. Ayokong masira yung boses ni Yukie Nakama, ang cute talaga niya. *sigh*

Used to play as well. Man, those were the days. My favorite one was my Storm Cruiser. That thing was loaded with a LOT of weights, just to keep it from flying off the track.

Haha same here. Naglalagay din ako ng weights dun sa harap at likod. But they put restrictions on having weights dun sa national tournament, that's why I was really forced to buy different engines and put different settings (bearings, wheels and other stuff) for different race tracks so that the car won't fly off the track whether I play on a technical or speedy course .

Yeah, nandito na ako nung naging popular yung Tamiya cars. Pero nag bira yung mga pinsan ko sa ganyan.
Hehe yeah, almost all the boys (even some girls) got into it. Pati nga yung mga 30 or 40 something na mga matatanda eh nahilig din sa ganito .
Naalala ko tuloy, may isa pang Japanese stuff na naging craze dito sa Pinas.....yung Tamagochi. Didn't get into it though . But still, it was a big hit here. _________________

Another concern about Gokusen being aired on GMA, sana din wag nila palitan yung names nung characters like they do on most koreanovelas...shet, imagine Shin being replaced with Jim or some other name _________________

my brother had lots of those. inubos ang savings para sa mga yun. and he'd go to all those competitions and shows they had which was like, every day ata. haha. then he suddenly got bored and just left them lying around the house. haay.. such a waste.
wait... may gokusen teaser ulit? whoa! sana matuloy na.. but i'm thinking.. is it gonna be a once a week thing? coz i can't imagine a single episode being segmented into around three parts. hmmn... mukhang malabo..i hope they don't cut even the somewhat violent parts. baka tanggalin nila. alam nyo na.. medyo takot sa mtrcb. at saka sensitive ang audience. _________________

Well, QTV-11 kept the original names of the character (and even the theme song) when they showed Heaven's Coins and Golden Bowl. Not sure if GMA will do the same thing ......but I really hope they would .

Hehe pareho lang kami ng bro mo . But I kept my Tamiya racing car in good shape, sayang naman yung ginastos ko dito kung pababayaan ko lang na pakalat-kalat ito . About dun sa Gokusen, wala pang sinabing sked kaya hindi pa alam if they will air this once a week or in a daily basis. _________________

I dont think Gokusen is that violent. Sure there are a couple of fights but unless they butcher Kumiko's lines, the shows message regarding violence would justify everything. What I really wanna see is how they translate her using Yakuza words. Its not like we have a similar type of criminal slang here. Heck, english subbers are already finding it hard to translate them without ruining the context.
As for segmenting the show.... I guess its possible. That would suck though...

Ooh..yah, i think they might edit out some parts cus my friend told me na when they showed Mars on QTV, whcih had a lot of violent and sexually sensitive scenes, they cut out a lot parts...pero wag nman nga iedit ang gokusen...hindi nman kasi senseless ang violence sa gokusen... _________________
