Which is fine since they have excellent public transit. And it's more expensive in Europe due to higher gas taxes which funds transit.

And sadly, we depend on our cars too much here. I am guilty of it. I can't do a commute of 2-3 hours, when it only takes me 1+ by car.

i wish i could take the rail to work... but it'd take 3 hours... vs 30 to and 45 back by car... not to mention the 3 train changes and 2 buses would drive me crazy.

Exactly. I can't remember how many transfers involving how many transit agencies it would take. And if I miss one transfer? Forget it.

AND, i'd have to walk 2 miles from the last train station to get to work, cause there's no direct bus.

AND i work at 6am, so i'd lhave to leave home at 3am...

I would guess that's an estimate b/c I believe they sell gas by the liter over there. Plus, just about everything there is more expensive. I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of their oil is imported.
