I'm asian myself, i've never ever been discriminated whatsoever. Probably because I'm mean? hehe but I was born here.

Fatwa, is only used by muslims. So I take he ran into the wrong people. As for dutch being racsists? totally not true.

among the local dutch (white folks), there seems to be a "hate" towards muslims since 9-11, and the assassination of that dutch director by this muslim extremist didn't really help either. So the majority of people seem to have this prejudice towards Muslims (muslims here are usually people from Morroco)

Asians are pretty much the most accepted 'ethnicity' here in Holland (compared to black people or muslims). they always work hard, don't hang around on streets and never cause trouble.

As for americans, we surely don't agree with Bush, but that doesn't mean we pick on tourists. I really wonder where your friend went to.

I've never been to Spain, but IMO the french are racists, especially when you talk english to them - they just refuse to speak english and pretend you're from another planet.

the french are known anti-semitics, second only to the germans probably....

the only wrong with the dutch is they love ORANGE....JUST KIDDING Bleah

funny thing about the Americans is out of the 32 coutntries represented in the World Cup they are the only ones that have a bus without the FLAG on it for fear of terrorist attack....

Bush go shiet in your hat...you fuggin' moron....the worst American president in my life time. I remember reading a survey of American historians in 2004 and EVEN THEN they had overwhelmingly proclaimed his presidency a failed one.

Oh btw, I work at ING myself haha - no kidding hehe

as for orange, it's the royal dutch family name so that's why. I think it's neat, it's easy recognizable. Not that I would wear anything orange Beaten

but for boycotting Heineken because it's dutch... that's like those war veterans who refuse to drive a japanese car (yes you got those people over here) or use any japanese electronics Shake Head

The dutch had some colonies (like indonesia?) and lots of dutch there got killed by the japanese, or taken as prisoners. Pretty weird huh?

i knew that...they used to be called the Dutch East Indies...although i acknowledge the historical veracity of that fact...my point is the Dutch never marshalled many troops to fight in the Pacific...the Dutch territories went from one colonizer (the Dutch) to another (the Japanese)....so if they are crying about that shit...that's ridiculous....it wasn't theirs anyway....

that's like the French crying about the Viet Minh (who became the Viet Cong) and Ho Chi Minh and the NVA (the North Vietnamese Army) after they basically kicked the French in the ass.

I'm not sure exactly where he went, but I know he took the euro rail from france to rotterdam then to amsterdam, i think he got on the flight there too.

As for going to the wrong places, im pretty sure he went to all the touristy places, the hash bars the museums, cathedrals, etc.

... he can be a little aggressive (esp when drunk), but only when he's with us.. the wife keeps him well in line, and wouldn't endanger her by causing trouble, esp on their honeymoon.

So i realize that it's a biased opinion, and only having 20 minutes to talk about a 3 week trip wasn't much. It sounded pretty crazy that it would be like that, which is why i had to ask about it.

Ah, I guess he took the Thalys to Amsterdam. but really Amsterdam is such a friendly tourists town. (50% people on the streets are tourists I think) I guess he was really unlucky or provoking himself (was he running around with American flag? hehe.

I used to live in Amsterdam, never ever had problems with racism whatsoever. The only tourists I hate are those drunk brits. I've never ran into nazis in public either...
