WaldoT, you didn't actually think I was serious about suspecting Aki and Masaya's father having an affair with Judy, and Wakaba tripping on acid under the trees, now did you? As Old-Ant indicated, I was just thinking of a less-boring alternate "reality" for Wakaba - like the bartender actually being her amnesiac father with a false memory implanted.

And, CherKell, as Dochira said, that was indeed the first part of the sushi special on Saturday, but did you notice on Sunday, they showed Episode #4 of TopCaster instead of #3? Some technician needs to be fired over there at KTSF.

Speaking of Sundays, I miss those "dorama specials" on Cocrico Miracle Type (there were four nice half-hour stories). Now that they are back to the short comedic skits, the show is not as enjoyable. The female guest celebrities joining them on the couch, however, have all been knockouts! Naughty

Really? Then that's an even lamer-than-normal excuse. The fact that this stuff continues to occur after all our e-mails complaining about their shoddy programming practices speaks volumes. I'm just one tiny voice in the wilderness, but I wish they cared a bit more about their viewing public.

I just watched my tape of "Top Caster," and Andru is correct. Sheesh. How much more worse can it get? (Don't answer that.)

So if the bartender turns out is actually her amnesiatic father with a false memory implanted, can we start referring to the dorama as "Wakaba Sonata?"

Damn. Where's that emergency bottle of shochu I keep around for situations like this?

Is everyone asleep at the KTSF Programming Wheel these days? I just had a chance to look at my tape from last night of the Spring Sushi Special... and they aired the SECOND PART of the two-part series!! Oh for freakin' lame. Shake Head

It's past annoying. Get your act together. NOW.

Seemed OK to me. The episode ended with "to be continued", so I assume that it was the 1st part.

Very enjoyable and appetizing. The offerings are expensive, but not as much as I would imagine. Oishi!

It was correct. But if you look at the opening closely, it says "Part 2 of 2".

What is happiness? Suing a weekly scandal magazine, apparently.

For anyone who liked that weird show that was on KTSF on Sunday evenings, with the lady who gave all kinds of advice, here is an interesting story about her:

I would like to visit some of those sushi shops from the special. Imagine, a place were sushi is Y170/plate and is not a kaitenzushi (conveyor belt).

The old woman in Hon Ikegami who comes to pick up Yosuke with his mom, didn't she play the older dance teacher in Shall We Dansu?

That was her, yes. Reiko Kusamura. She also played the senile mother in The Twilight Samurai (which I happened to rent yesterday and highly recommend).

NEP League?!

Well, it's simple enough to follow so far...
And it's better than that "Celebrities watch other people and occasionally celebrities relive their terrible pasts" show.

(I want my IQ Supli!)

Can anyone explain how they were supposed to pick in the final coal-cart-hurtling-through-burning-mines-thing? I got the point on most of the challenges/questions, but not that one!

So I haven't gotten to see my recording yet to see if you are asking a different question, but the last game is the bonus stage. If they can answer (four?? five?? quiestions), they win a bonus Y1 million. Every question has two possible answers. They pick by moving to one side of the cart or the other. Correct? They move on to the next. Wrong? They "plunge" to their fiery end.

Thanks Wintersweet and Dochira! Do you realize yours are the first two posts on this thread in 2 weeks?

I suppose we're all rather bored with KTSF Saturdays lately: "Kochira Hon Ikegami Sho" is about as exciting as watching paint dry, but then at least it is not frustrating like waiting for "Wakaba" to conclude. There was a hint this evening, however, that Hikaru and Judy may have a future together! Did anyone else catch that?

Sorry, Wintersweet, I stopped watching that game show halfway through. I only got one right in the beginning, the "Eigo de..." question (way too easy) but then the rest of it seemed beyond my Nihongo ability so I changed the channel (turned it back to watch NHK news however, with my SAP).

On Sundays, I'm finding "Iryu Medical Dragon Team" a little too silly, but I have been enjoying "TopCaster." BTW, I did rent the missing episode 3 and that turned out to be hilarious. A psychic bestowed a new name for her which had the surname "Onara." Different kanji, of course, but it generated a whole lot of scatalogical jokes. Maybe KTSF/TTV didn't show it because of self-censorship?

I love this forum. Thank you Geezer for coming up with the idea. Applaud

I'm not a great fan of Kochira Hon-Ikegami but I really liked last week's episode 3. It had great outdoor shots with the Shinkansen in the background. Looks like folks in LA who watched this series earlier this year really liked episode 5.

So Wakaba will end sometime in July. Wonder what we'll get after that. Maybe Churasan. That's what they got in NYC after Sakura.

Welcome to the thread and to JDorama Sachiko-chan.

Re: seeing Churasan on KTSF after Wakaba finally ends...

I'd like to see Churasan 2 or 3. But Churasan already had its 2,000 year run on KTSF, just before Sakura.

Andru

Bored ain't the word. I'm still enjoying Komyo Ga Tsuji, but as for the rest... I'm giving it a complete pass. I'm following this thread just so that I don't miss the start of whatever comes next.

What?? I missed that! Where did you see that?

It was kewl to see Keita's GF. You go, dude!

Yeah, the lineup is getting a little predictable, with the exception of the taiga dorama.

Q: Has there ever been a dorama in which some modern kids got sent back to the feudal days? I'd think that would be a natural source of stories.

Actually, I think the Churasan sequels were of only short duration. I have a copy of Churasan 2 (unsubtitled) and it only had 6 episodes. I think it was a special mini-series on evening TV in Japan.

I think what will follow Wakaba is one of the three asadora that has been shown in Japan since Wakaba: Fight, Kaze No Haruka, or Junjo Kirari.

Of the three, my guess is it will be Junjo Kirari (Pure-heart, or Pure-hearted) since it is the current one being shown in Japan (started in April). I believe that has been the pattern over the years on KTSF. They start showing the one currently playing in Japan, which ends up concluding in Japan in just a few months but keeps playing here for what seems like forever.

FINALLY! Wakaba is OVAH! Yay!

Next up on the KTSF Hit Parade will be... Kaze no Haruka! Looking forward to something new over the summertime...

And the "Kaze no Haruka" bet wins. I can't find it on jdorama.com, though ... I was hoping for something a little more different, but I'll give it a go.

Also, thanks, dochira. Silly little show. XD

And Andru, I'm not going anywhere; I love this place. Hey, if anyone ever wants to chat (live commentary!) during the shows, I'm on various instant messaging systems-- wintryplum on AIM , for one, and several others.

When I can't find a synopsis on this fine site here, I turn to the DramaWiki. Here's what they say about Kaze: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Kaze_no_Haruka.

Personally, I was rooting for "Fight," but I'll take anything... although I'm suddenly hungry for some pastry cake right about now. hehe

Wait, hold on.
"Wakaba" featured the protagonist moving from Kyushu (Miyazaki) to Kansai (Kobe)... and "Kaze no haruka" features the protagonist moving from Kyushu (Yufuin) to Kansai (Osaka) ...
Weird.

I hate how slow this site makes my browser.

Ga!! Rotten Japanese!

After years of being sucked in, I'd finally kicked the Asadora habit. So what do they do?

They start a new one featuring Kimura Yoshino, so I'll have to watch.

151, 15 minute episodes.

They hate me. The Japanese just hate me.
