Ha! I never knew I was a Jidaigeki fan.

I'd heard of Chambara before, but lazy slob that I am I've alwasy just lumped it all under the heading of Samurai Movies.

Just watched a few episodes of "Gachibaka", and find my patience being tried. So far it's just a cheap imitation of the likes of GTO, Gokusen, and Dragonzakura. Even Kurokawa Tomoka will be hard pressed to turn this drama around. Bang Head

Tiger Tiger Arigatiger! (for this dorama!)

Just finished Tiger & Dragon...this is easily the funniest doramas I've ever seen....Kudo Kankuro, the screenwriter is an absolute genius....as represented by this, IWGP, and Kisarazu Cat's Eye. If you liked those other two doramas this is definitely a must see. And for those who haven't, take a chance and you'll possibly be rewarded with several laughs. I think this is the best work I've seen from Nagase Tomoya.

No wonder this show won so many Japanese TV Academy Awards in 2005

Best Drama
Best Actor: Nagase Tomoya
Best Supporting Actor: Nishida Toshiyuki
Best Screenwriter: Kudo Kankuro
Best Music Arrangement: Nakanishi
Best Opening: Katayama Osamu

Finished "Gachibaka" and I felt so relieved it is ridiculous. In the past I have given "Fugoh Keiji" a 3 out of 10, thinking that it will probably be a class-on-its-own. I'm happy (or depressed, reallly) to announce that FK is now joined by "Gachibaka" as dramas you would want to throw out of the window before it kills you.

For the record even SOS got of 4 out of 10 in my judging scheme.

you can download it at www.d-addicts.com.

They have the 2005 TV special and the Tiger & Dragon 11 episode dorama that followed it.

haha, Gachibaka was so hard to finish - i don't know how much closer they can get before they're charged with plagiarism or something

the acting of Gachibaka was ok....
but i didn't care for the script, storyline...
Tomoka was good in acting her part, she did even better in Teru Teru Ashita Thumbsup

I beg to differ. In TTA Kurokawa's character varied from cutie-pie to hysterical, and she did well in both parts and all that in between. In GB Kurokawa was more relegated to sulky school girl - but there was nothing wrong with this girl's acting.

"Ame to Yume no Ato ni" didn't give too much room for Kurokawa to manuvre in. I'm glad that they later dramas allowed her to display her true abilities.

Nevertheless GB still sucks, with or without Kurokawa.

Just started on "Machiben". I gave up on "A.D. Boogie" - it was too much of a period piece and I just can't get used to it.

Just finished "Machi Ben". It's entertaining enough, even if the cast is a bit thin - basically it's dominated by Esumi Makiko and Yamamoto Koji. Ryu Raita is formidable as ever, and I was a bit surprised by Sawada Kenji's performance. No great shakes, but enjoyable nonetheless.
