I watched the first episode of My Boss, My Hero. meh. I wonder if Nagase Tomoya is tired of being typecast as a punk yet? Poor guy.
i haven't seen it yet...but i was thinking that too...always playin' a yakuza or similar type of character can't be that great, especially given the fear of typecasting....although he does well in those roles...the boy needs to do some other roles.

Just finished Kurosagi. Yep, I agree with some of you, very disappointing. The story and plot were contrived and really predictable. The main actors performances were bleh, I'm sorry to say. Yamapi didn't really convince me that he was a swindler. Still like him better in NwP where he plays a goofy, light-hearted character. At least Horikita Maki tried to work with the material but it failed.
I have to say, I'm really disappointed with the dramas that have been coming out lately. Once in awhile, you get a really good one but lately, a lot of crap has been coming out. Makes me hesitant to download any of the new ones. I think I'll go back and start downloading the older ones from the early 90s. _________________

i totally agree....a very sad effort overall. i think he was much more interesting in his role as Akira in NwP. Maki, Yui Ichikawa, and Yamapi all failed to give engaging performances, partly due to the vacant material they were working with i'm sure.

yeah seems the japanese tv studios have been turning out a lot of crud lately.
personally i think it goes to show that some of the older, more established actors/actresses are sorely missed.....Kimura Takuya, Nanako Matsushima, Yuko Takeuchi, Kou Shibasaki, Eri Fukatsu, Tamara Masakazu, Hitomi Kuroki etc etc....

Well, there is a reason it's sometimes called, "trendy" dramas.

yeah but it's straight schlock....not that i disagree with you...but, for example, you can't call school doramas trendy anymore.....except maybe it is because those horny ass 55 year old oyajis still like to get their freak on with junior hi and hi school girls.

I don't think you need an oracle. You just found your answer.

I was gonna watch Kurosagi, but since you said that.. I'll cross it off my list.
watching Densha, and Hirokita Maki has a very different role here. She really did a good job in NwP.
i also recommend watching her in the movie Always San Chome...if you go to the Horikita Maki thread and search for my post you will see i put up a torrent for the film as well as a short description...you'll have to go back several pages

Hmm, somehow I feel that Dare yori mo Mama wo Aisu will be one of the best doramas this season. Sure, its a family dorama, and the ratings are low, but the actors are great and the story is interesting. It may sound boring, but it really is good, so I recommend watching it

It happens in real life. I read the Entertainment News thread.
