since i couldn't sleep after my 5 hour nap.. i started watching Shota no Sushi... im liking it so far. The characters are good, and mostly realistic. The main character shota isn't some baka-aho stumbling into a profession they aren't suited to be in and being pulled along by helpful friends as many new doramas have.
adds to my belief that older doramas are far better written to current counterparts.

I just finished watching Souri to yobanai de"Farewell Mr. Premier", an older series from 1997 and it was just a lot of fun.
Usually I find Tamura Masakazu to be a bit annoying, but he was such a perfect fit here... a career politician, completely unfit for the office of the Prime Minister, with but one dream. That being, not to set the record for the shortest time in office before the Diet got together and kicked him out.
Honami Suzuki is fabulous as the beautiful, rich, young, trophy wife of the Premier.
And Mayu Tsuruta as the sweet, slack jawed, honest but really really simple new maid is wonderful.
And yeah, if the Bush White House makes you want to scream, this show will give you a heck of a laugh. _________________

that's on my to-get list
watching tamura masakazu as the father in oyaji - turning out to be an awesome dorama - just finished ep 4 and still rolling, tamura masakazu has his quirks but he's a good actor i think _________________

I think I did natter on about Haruka a few dozen pages ago.
It was just a fun show. I liked Aya Hirayama so much I actually went back to Itsumo Futari to see who she played. And almost... I said, almost, checked Fighting Girl to see her in that. (She's good, but no one's good enough to get me to watch any of Fighting Girl again.)
And I finally got a chance to see how funny Jiro Sato could be, and that put the icing on the cake for me. _________________

When I watch tamura masakazu I see an actor who developed a set a "tricks" years ago, and never varies from them. It gets a bit annoying for me, but you know... that's who he is.
But I"ll agree with you. oyaji was fun. So was Otousan.
I can't wait for aswritten to put out "Papa was a Newscaster" in the fall. But that's mostly because Asano Atsuko's in it. _________________

A very pleasant series with perhaps a little too much slapstick. Furuta Shinta was as usual excellent with his comic timing. I first saw him in Star No Koi and it seemed he was almost the same character in Haruka.
Hirayama Aya. What can I say. Another superb beauty.

I did go back to check her in Fighting Girl. You're so right. I could only handle about 5 minutes of that stinker again.

I finally finished Over Time. To be honest, I am disappointed with the ending. Still, it is a great romance show with excellent scripts and cast, I haven't been hooked like this for a long time.
Right now, I am rewatching From the Heart (Kimi ga oshietekureta koto). It's a bit sad this drama isn't more popular, imo it's one of the better shows out there. The emotions displayed by the actors are genuine, the story as a whole is touching and delicate; overall, it's just a very inspiring and heartfelt piece of work. Perhaps one of the few flaws this drama has is the "unattractive" main cast . Until now, this still ranks among my top 5 favorite dramas. I can't really tell why I love this drama so much, I just knew that I really love it, despite the not so good looking cast and a few annoying minor characters. _________________

I had a bit of an Aya marathon today.
I watched episodes 4 and 5 of Attention Please, as well as episode 2 of Ace wo Nerae. Yeah, I know, I need to hurry up with AP. I don't get to watch as often as I'd like to.
