Is Hokkaido really colder than the rest of Japan? The only images I have from Hokkaido are a few winter dramas. It kind of looks cold like here. _________________

that'd be great for you, dochira....tokyo during christmas looks so spectacular...
I know. I've only been there in the summer, so this will be a different experience. So far, the cheapest I can find during the Christmas vacation time is $510, which ain't too shabby. It may happen after all.....(I just jinxed myself).

wow, that is amazingly cheap.... even the JAL/ANA fares are cheap given the crazy crude oil prices these days....
I know. The JAL/ANA fare is for travel in September from SFO (I'm not sure about LAX), and is from a different website....JTB USA I believe. But you have to book the tickets within the next few days.

Tonki....one of the most famous tonkatsu restaurants in all of Tokyo...we ate there...it was beyond amazing ^_^
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This is perhaps the best-known tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant in town. You'll probably have to wait for a seat at the counter, but it's worth it. A man will ask whether you want the hirekatsu (a filet cut of lean pork) or the rosukatsu (a loin cut, with some fat on it). Kushi-katsu (skewered pork with onions) is also available. No matter what you choose, ask for the teishoku, the set meal featuring soup, rice, cabbage, pickled vegetable, and tea. The man will scribble your order on a piece of paper and put it with all the other scraps of paper, miraculously keeping track of not only which order belongs to whom but also which customers have been waiting for seats the longest. The open kitchen behind the counter takes up most of the space in the restaurant, and as you eat you can watch the half-dozen or so cooks scrambling to turn out orders -- never a dull moment, and in my opinion one of the highlights of dining here. You can get free refills of tea, rice, and cabbage
