i ain't the end all be all but i've seen a few doramas in my day and i absolutely cherished this dorama...i could relate to it, it was realistic, touching and endearing... truly elicited emotion from me.....absolutely stellar in terms of what japanese doramas could be...although many don't reach such lofty heights....it's funny....my 3 fav doramas...Long Vacation, Beautiful Life and Orange Days have all been written by the same female screenwriter....
gosh i loved Sae.......and i thought that Kai was so admirable, yet human.....i loved this dorama.
Haihai!
Everyone can relate, or will be able to relate, to that last year of college/university when you realize that you're shifting away from adolescense to adulthood. It's daunting, frightening, and unknown, and yet we anticipate it with anxious yearning.
The group dynamic between the Orange Society was so real. It was verra realistic in its exploration of the human mind and the human heart. Top notch, baby. _________________

indeed this dorama truly had a suspension of disbelief, in the literary sense. i relished every minute of it.

I just finished watching Orange Days. It was an amazing dorama, quite unique for me because I've not seen any dorama so far that is as FRESH as this one (Technically-I mean from the lighting to the camera work). It also had a good deal of heavy moments, but it was treated in such a FRESH way. I'm using FRESH a lot but yeah, it was just that to me. The main leads were awesome. Tsumabuki Satoshi and Kou Shibasaki were brilliant! The last episode "Kai, Itte Rasshi" made me choke a bit. Awesome dorama! _________________

Yea, it's just like movies that are based on books. Nothing is ever as good as the original product. That's a fact. So stop trying.
i don't mind anime/manga inspired dorams in concept but dayem they are so OVERdoing it....and doing it badly....it's become quite pathetic in my opinion.

That's becoz the writers are running dry of ideas, u know. Also, with mangas there's a built-in fanbase already, so the doramas will have lots of ppl anticipating its release, whether it turns out good or not is another thing...
By the way, my fave dorama writer is the same as yours..the lady who wrote Long Vacation, Beautifiul Life and Orange Days. Her scripts always touch a chord with me...very deftly they explore human relationships and the little moments in life that are very real and poignant. Nothing over the top like korean dramas. Uggh.

i agree with your assessment although i dont' believe the trend is a good one for fans of japanese dorama.....the manga-inspired or anime-inspired doramas end up being pathetic productions that hope to score good ratings based on the fact that the story is well-known coupled with the fact that these doramas usually have a famous young celebrity acting as the lead.....fame doesn't necessarily equal good dramatic acting.

yeah Eriko Kitagawa is a gifted writer whereas johnny kitagawa is a gifted pedophile.
Am I the only one that don't like this Jdorama ? The only thing that keep me watching is because I was hoping to see more screen time of Konishi Manami and Tsumabuki Satoshi but i was disappointed . Frankly, I don't like Shibasaki Kou . She give me the same vibe as she did in Good Luck !
