Next up is the 80m hurdles. Not everyone competed in this one but our fearless leader Yuko did and so did Aibon.
It was another photo finish between the blues but Mika came out on top and Yuko throws herself on the ground in dispair.
Yuko was really upset, after being defeated by a H!P Kid she really wanted to win this one.
In one of the other heats Miuna was way ahead of the others until the very last hurdle where she tripped over and had what looked like a pretty nasty fall. But being the trooper that she is she got up and finished the race. She looked ok afterwards.
Takitty won her heat by a big margin and you can see in the results that she kicked everybody butts!
Next event was the horse vaulting.
Most of the H!P Kids didn't make it pass the first round.
Yuko didn't make it but our first person to make it was Mika then H!P Kid02 also made it!

Then our super fast H!P Kid01 showed that she's pretty good at this too and makes it easily. However, poor Masae from MK belly flops it
Our not so fearless sub-leader Kaori forgot to jump and just runs into it
Rika "Charmy" Ishikawa shows everybody how its done and does it beautifully.

Aibon was approaching it pretty slow and almost didn't make it but came through ok. Nono not to be outdone by aibon clears it easily.
Takitty didn't get enough speed and couldn't clear it. However, Mikitty (sporting a baggy short) cleared it nicely and Asami getting too much speed almost misses the horse but clears it ok.
Like Charmy, Ayaya makes it look easy. Fast forward a bit, Gomaki, taking this seriously goes up to test the jump board and do a few practice jump on it.
She makes it easily. Miuna was the last person to go and she makes it too.
Then the horse is raised up a notch and the 2nd round begins. Mika almost makes it but scrap her butt on the edge of the horse as she was comming down and was ruled out by the judges.
H!P Kid02 is like a little grasshopper and clears it easily. The other Kids are amazed...and so were the adults.
H!P Kid01 however didn't fare as well and didn't clear it. Aibon couldn't even get over it and fell off but she was ok. Asami thinking she went too fast last time went too slow this time and bellies it, almost falling off.
Nono, Atsuko (which I forgot to mention made it pass the first round), baggy short Mikitty, Gomaki and Ayaya clears it again.
Miuna however goes head first, feet last over the thing! The leaders were worried but she OK folks! And the judges ruled that she cleared it

Horsie goes up and 3rd round begins. We're now down to 4 blues and 4 oranges.
Charmy clears it with no problems but its the end of the road for H!P Kid02 but a great effort for her. Nono practically flies over it!
Atsuko slips and doesn't make it. Mikitty does a little cross over maneuver and clears it. Gomaki once again tested out the jump board but when she tried to do the real thing she miss time her jump and jumped too late. Slamming into the horse with her crotch
But not to worry you fan boys out there because she's pretty tough and is ok. In fact she was rather disappointed in herself but was still full of smiles so all is good
After seeing that, Princess Ayaya feels the pressure.
She gets the crowd fired up and makes it! The blues are happy because all of them made it. But Miuna keeps the orange hopes alive and leap frogs her way to the next round!
Round 4 begins. By this time the horse is over the heads but blue team is still high spirits. 4 Blues and 1 Orange left.
First up is Charmy...and no problems at all.
Nono realises it her turn
She goes anyway but couldn't get above the horse...nice try.

Trooper Miuna gives a salute before she goes. Unfortunately she couldn't get enough spring off her jump and crashes into the horse. A valiant try
Mikitty does an Ayaya and gets the crowd going...she almost makes it but not quite. Ayaya cries out for her best friend.
The crowd is really into it now and cheers on Ayaya. She doesn't let her fans down and clears it!
Final round! Charmy who's been breezing through this couldn't quite clear it. Now Ayaya is worried.
Ayaya goes up and checks it out, its well over her head.
She takes a run up but chickens out at the last minute
One last try...but its no good she can't clear it.
So it ends up being a tie between Charmy and Ayaya for first place. Miuna, Nono and Mikitty tie for 2nd place.
Its not looking good for Orange Project (FYI Orange won the Osaka Festival)

The gap had shrunk a little bit more but blue still has the lead as the baton is passed onto Yuko and Risa. Yuko by this time in the festival is not to be messed with (as Asami would put it on HPW Obasan kowai ) and widens the gap again.
Takitty has shown that she can be fast in the hurdles but Kaori was the MVP in 2001 so is no push over. Kaori arrives first and passes the baton onto our little speedster H!P Kid01. Takitty passes onto Atsuko.
Next is Ayaya vs Gocchin. Gocchin is fast, winning the Osaka 60m and 3rd at this festival 60m but Orange at this point is too far behind.
Mikitty takes the next leg from Ayaya and Eri takes over from Gocchin who now has a huge task of catching up to Mikitty.
Suprisingly she's doing a pretty good job of it! Just when I thought it was over apparently they go around once more!
So we're back with Kei and Makoto but Kei was really tired at this point. Things are looking dire for Orange. But now its Megumi and Reina and Megumi does another great job of catching up!
However, Masae messes up the change over and the gap widens again!
Deja vu again as Takitty tries to catch Kaori.
This little kid is too fast and widens the gap even more. Then murphy's law come into effect and Gocchin mess up the change over.
Ayaya wins it for the Blue team by a huge margin. Seeing this, its almost unbelievable that Orange kicked Blue's butt in Osaka!?

Yuko is now gloating over the victory
While Orange leader Kei is devastated and starts to cry as the other orange girls tries to comfort her. These girls take their sports seriously!
With Kei too emotional to talk and Nacchi too busy trying to make her feel better, Yoshi takes over as temporary spokeswoman for orange They should make Yoshi leader when Kaori and Mari leaves momusu.
Kei finally gets a grip and basically says everybody did their best and they're not done yet! Thats the spirit!
Its back to the 80m Hurdles for the finals however with some of the girls sporting injuries there were only 3 finalist.
Mika in a time of 17" 18
Nono in a time of 17" 30
Takitty in a time of 16" 32
and Asami (country) in a time of 18" 00 however she was unable to compete.
As usual, Nono is quick off the start. Mika is up to, Nono in the middle and Takitty at the bottom. After the 2nd hurdle Mika stumbles and falls!
But she gets back up and continues the race but is out of it now so its a showdown between Nono and Takitty.
Takitty shows us why she was the fastest qualifier and over takes Nono to secure a much needed victory for Orange in a time of 16" 03!
The girl of the moment gives a winning smile as her teammates cheers on.
First place gets 80pts, 2nd and 3rd gets 50 and 30 so gap between Orange and Blue points basically stays the same

Its time for that wierd game where you grab flags off the oppossing team member's head. If you have your flag taken you're out and the game is over when you've grabbed the leader's flag. Winner gets lots of points and loser gets nothing so Orange really needs this one!
Poor Mari can only look on from the sidelines.
Some of the orange team members gets ready.
And the orange army is ready for war. Blue team also gets ready.
Blue army is also ready for war!
Now the 2 little armies makes their approach.
The battle has now begun.
Mikitty squares off with Nacchi...but is ambushed from behind!
But the Ambusher has become the Ambushee as Rika comes from behind to save Miki's butt.
Rika scores one for the blue and goes for the next kill.
Its the battle of the Kitties as Mikitty takes on Takitty.
Nacchi to the rescue!
Nacchi goes back to protect the leader while Aibon scores another one for Orange. Its teacher and student as arm flies everywhere between Risa and Reina.
Nacchi the Queen of Ambushing takes out Reina. Aibon the Kagomatrix takes out another one while Gocchin is locked in mortal hand holding with Ayumi.

The 2 killing machines, Charmy and Kagomatrix (too bad the Tsujinator wasn't around, i bet she would of been a killing machine too) approaches one and another. But Takitty wants a piece too and joins in. See as 2 on 1 can't take out the mighty Charmy, Gocchin jumps in as well!
Is this the end for Charmy? Who cares because with Blue teams seriously depleted, Kei makes a move for the ultimate kill. Yuko!
Yuko fearing the worst makes a run for it!
Orange swarms in for the kill...and Asami (CM) does the deed!
Meanwhile off on the other side of the battlefield Charmy is taking them all down!! Too bad the game is over.
The victorous. No tears in this one.
Round 2.
Blue tries to do a flanking manveour.
First clash of arms comes from Mikitty and Kagomatrix. When will you learn Miki, you can only get rid of the Kagomatrix with the Charmy
First blood has been drawn.
Its Kids on Kids as H!P Kid03 takes out H!P Kid01.
Blues are falling like flies as orange swarms on them.
Kagomatrix strikes again and takes out Ayaya.
Meanwhile the strangely quiet until now Charmy does a blitz attack and runs around Takitty heading straight for the leader. But the leader is heavily guarded can she take them all out?

3 Orange guards swarms on Charmy but Charmy takes out the middle one WHILE using her as a shield to get pass the other 2! Too cool! Now she goes for the real kill.
But she can't take out Kei quickly enough as reinforcement arrives. However, Charmy fends off the reinforcement attack while still attacking the Leader! Charmy finally gets a hand on the Leader's flag, Orange is in trouble, where is the Kagomatrix!
Just as Charmy was about to rip Kei's head off (oh and the flag too) Risa manages to grab Charmy's flag in time to stop the carnage! However nobody told Charmy so she just keeps on trying to rip Kei's head off.
But eventually they stopped the rampage of Charmy.
Doesn't look good for Blue now that Charmy is gone and Orange makes their approach on Yuko.
Note that Kei's flag is gone but the pole is still there (a bit bent), result of the Charmy rampage.
Nacchi the Queen of Ambushes takes out Yuko from behind and ends the game.
However, Charmy is not finished yet and gets Yuko to call a judge over. They already have the flag of Orange Leader.
I'm not quite sure what she's saying but I think the basic is she grabbed the flag even if it doesn't have the pole it should still count.
Charmy looking all serious.
Orange defense is they grabbed Charmy's flag just before they got Kei's so she was out at that point so her kill doesn't count.
Rika looks even more angry (she had to appologized for this on the last haromoni for 2003)
Judges ruled in favor of Orange and Blue team accepts it. So Orange gets a 100pt and Blue gets zip.
Next event is the 60m dash finals! Which I'll put up caps for later.

Heres the rest of the sports festival.
Now onto the 60m dash final. The 6 fastest in the heats qualifies for this event and they are:
Nono, Mai, H!P Kid01
Maki, H!P Kid04, Asami
Everybody is ready to go as Kei looks on with hope. Orange needs a 1,2,3 victory for any sort of hope of catching up to Blue.
And then they're off! Mai and H!P Kid01 is a little slow on the reaction but everybody started off ok.
Nono takes an early lead followed by H!P Kid01 and Gocchin.
I have to say everybody has a wierd arm swing movement where they cross their arms almost to the other side except for Gocchin and Mai who has a more parrallel movement.
But who cares about technique as results is what matters.
Mai must be really tired because she's not even trying anymore.
As they approach the finish line its Nono in front but Gocchin is gaining on her and is only a step behind then followed by H!P Kid01 and H!P Kid04.
But Gocchin can't catch up to her in time and Nono takes out the final!
Gocchin must of done something to her leg because she was limping at the end and eventually fell to the ground.
Everybody is worried.
After what seems to be forever they officially announced the winner and Nono is overjoyed!
Blue teams celebrates and Orange team congratulates them.
The results are out.
Nono is 1st in a time of 9" 60 earning blue 80pts.
Gocchin is 2nd 9" 62 and 50pts for orange
H!P Kid01 3rd 9" 63 and 30pts for blue.
There was also a 60m dash for Kids only and they get their own ranking. No suprise that H!P Kid01 and H!P Kid04 came 1st and 2nd which earned blue another 130pts.
H!P Kid05 and Kid06 tied for 3rd, one from blue and one from orange so pretty much a wipeout with blue picking up just about all the points in the Kids 60m.
Then Nono and H!P Kid01 gets their award for the older 60m, Gocchin was missing from the 2nd place position so she must of injuried herself bad to not appear at the ceremony.
The adults were still all amazed at H!P Kid01 picking up third.

I just realised that I've been putting country next to Asami to distinguish her from Konno but they're both in country musume! Oh well you know what I mean.
Now comes the mega relay where just about everybody who is not injured competes.
Starting off we have:

The race begins and already both blue teams are leading.
After the second pass blue teams are still in the lead.
The runner for one of the blue is now the H!P kid that came 2nd in the 60m kids race and she puts in a huge gap between the rest.
Meanwhile one of the orange has caught up. There maybe hope yet.
Now one of the orange team has passed the slower blue team and is gaining on the lead blue team!!
Who is the orange? Its Takitty! Go girl!
Takitty overtakes Reina and Orange team is now in the lead!
Miuna takes over and now Mika and Yuko has to catch her.
The tables have turned and Miuna is far in front followed by Mika and Yuko both from blue and Kei from orange is nowhere to be seen.
But now Yuko hands it over to Nono our fastest runner of the festival. Can she catch Masae who is keeping the lead for orange.
Sure enough Nono closes the gap and even passes the other blue team.
Now its over to a H!P Kid## for orange. You know Orange maybe in trouble when I don't know the number for a H!P kid.
Makoto and Charmy takes over for blue, both are quite fast. Can orange keep their lead?
Taking up that other orange team that we probably don't care much about now because they're so far behind..is Konno!
Comming up for the final change over is Ayaya (blue) and Mai (orange). Mai's performance has been inconsistant throughout the festival so Ayaya may have a chance.
As expected, Charmy (nice running face) and Makoto are gaining grounds on our little orange H!P kid##.
Its now neck and neck after the change over!
Ayaya maybe just slightly in front but Mai has the inside lane.
Its anybody's race at this point (well except for those 2 other slow teams but nobody is paying them any attention)

With the advantage of the inside lane Mai takes the lead around the corner.
And wow they even show a shot of the other two teams for 22 frames! (almost a whole second)
Comming up to the finish line and Mai has a slight lead over Ayaya.
Its pretty close now with everybody comming down to the sideline to cheer them on!
(queue Go Girl! koi no Victory music in the background! well they don't but should of!)
Ayaya puts up a good fight but Mai wins by half a step and a chest.
Orange team rejoice, its sweet revenge for the last relay. Orange did well even without their fastest runner Maki.
It was the closest relay I've seen in a H!P Sports Festival.

2nd. Blue Team A 2'27"86 80pt

A total annihilation of Orange by Blue!
Blue team celebrates while Orange cries. (Mari is really emotional)
Then comes the awards.
MIP awards goes to
H!P Kid01, our little speedster from Blue
Rika Ishikawa, oh don't act surprise Rika you won the horse jumping thingy and killed them in the head ripping thingy.
More MIP Awards
Asami, for winning the head ripping thingy? She was also surpose to be in the final of the hurdles but I think Miuna deserves this more.
Rika wins a...scale? Hrm are the judges telling her something?
Takahashi wins some sort of special award. Yeah she deserves it.
So does Ayaya, I think she competed in just about everything.
Nacchi gets one too, I have no idea why. Maybe for being the Queen of Ambushing.
The three of them gets a...cushion?? There better be something good inside or H!P sales are really low that they can't afford better prizes.
Finally the MVP award goes to...Nozomi Tsuji!!!
and her prize is a big piece of cardboard! I bet the cushion people are really jealous now!
Aterwards they have a mini H!P concert.
