Dodgers hang on and win 19-11, if Hideo Nomo were dead, he'd be spinning in his grave.

Rookie James Loney had nine(!) RBIs for the Blue Crew... Whoa.

Dodgers come from behind in the ninth and beat the Giants, 4-3... w00t!

Now they're tied for first with the Padres with TWO more games to go.

Yeah I went to the game, it sounded and felt like Dodger Stadium. Another thing I think the Dodgers paid off Pedro Felix, the guy struck out 4 times, he acted like the season was over and he wanted to go home.

bmwracer^They might have to play the Cardinals on monday. Just wondering if the Dodgers win the division are they going to celebrate again, if they do , that would be so tacky. Grumble

Yeah, I thought it was rather odd that they would pop the champagne just for making the playoffs... But seeing how high and dry the Dodgers have been, it's a major victory for them.

Watashi mo. I was thinking, "You know guys, if you win tomorrow and the Padres lose, you've won the division, that's a reason to celebrate"

I was at this game. Shake Head

First of, how do you allow Maddux to steal second like that? Shake Head And allow a sac fly to happen when you catch the ball near second base...not the outfield mind you, but maybe shallow center?? Shake Head And screw up a relay that allowed another run to score? Shake Head

I think the "high"light of that day was hearing the "welcome" when Tommy Lasorda showed up to the game. If I got a good shot of him, I'll post it.

Asleep at the wheel, that's how.

The Giants were just playing out the season, IMO.

It cracked me up to see so much Dodger blue at the ballpark, topped by those guys running around with the "Think Blue" banner.

I don't expect the Dodgers to go very far in the postseason, but sweeping out the Giants at the end was decidedly sweet. hehe

I was so embarassed. The fans in Blue were much louder than the boys in Orange. By that point, we were resigned to our fate, the final sweepage. Shake Head

Yup, for one, Felipe Alou will not be returning as manager. Second, there are 11(?) free agents, so there will be some new faces next year.

Actually, the Dodgers are in the same boat: Kent, Garciaparra, Maddux, Lofton, et al... Sweat Puppy Dog Eyes

I think the aforementioned were all considered stop-gaps until the kids (Loney, Ethier etc.) were ready for the bigs. Those kids are ready, NOW The irony is, Nomar could be comeback player of the year and end up somewhere else next year.

At least you have some kids....I have no clue how the Giants farm system is. I know that most of them were used in the different trades they made to get these veterans.
