It's a drama made back in the late 80s and it's not on the database of this site. Inagaki Goro from SMAP is in this drama and he's around 16 or 17 years old. Ishida Ayumi from Flowers for Algernon is also in it.

My Japanese conversation class watched it raw. NHK decided to make it a Japanese lesson video by shortening the episode to around 6-10 minutes so I I've practically seen the entire series in an educational manner. We talk about how Japanese homelife works and all that stuff through this movie.

It doesn't really have a "specific plot" but shows how life in a Japanese family is like.

I saw the series, i think it was broadcasted locally here (California) many years back. I don't remember much other than it was a wholesome, feel-good family drama, overall it was pleasant and entertaining. It was Inagaki Goro's debut in 1989, airing Feb~Sep of that year.

Yeah. And the daughter, saki (don't know the actresses name) wanted to be a manga-ka and the husband later on moved to Izu in the Shizoka prefecture. I knew it had to be old when I first saw it because Inagaki Goro looked 15 years younger.

we are watching it in our japanese conversation class right now. it's incredibly difficult to watch the shorten version ones. we have homework sheets where we have to answer questions about the episodes. for a third year college level japanese course I think we're all finding it very difficult. how did your sensei fit the drama into the course work?
