Different languages have different structures and ways of expression, so a universal sign language is very unlikely. As a matter of fact even among the Japanese there are variants of sign languages, such as the Kansai-ban (Kansai dialect) sign language. |
you're right, see above.

I'm no expert on sign language, but i'm sure at least some of the signals are for letters of the alphabet. If you're spelling words in English, how is a Japanese person going to understand you if they don't speak English? I'm sure they don't sign in romaji either |
agreed...like for example....chinese doesn't even have letters.

That's not going to happen until a 'universal language' is accepted, and that's not going to happen until all cultures have been sufficiently 'normalized' into a 'super-culture'. In the current atmosphere do you seriously expect different cultures, religions etc. to sit down and see how they can merge? Personally I think we can expect to see hell freezing over before that happens.

you're welcome....no problem...i'll be honest i wasn't SURE of the answer myself...so i did a little research to make sure i was given you the correct answer.
in any event i don't think it would necessarily be easy to make it universal.....

well isn't English considered a universal language?
Don't they teach English at schools in Japan (and PROBABLY everywhere [okay maybe not])?

Are you talking about the kiss?
And there was another one when Sae dropped the F-Bomb when she was suppose to give a (speech?)
I forgot the episode

well it would be easier..
what if Kai was sent to America and he has to deal with a deaf kid... then he'll have to learn a different set of sign language _________________

English is a widely used commercial language, but hardly universal. Just go to, say Japan, and trying to go round speaking English only - you'll see what I mean.
A language is used to communicate, getting yourself on the right train or the directions to the nearest MacDonald's does not count as communications in my books.

in theory it would be easier but you'd have to overcome linguistic and cultural differences whicn would be extremely difficult if not altogether impossible.....the different thought processes involved in the cognition and language of various cultures and peoples don't necessarily lend themselves to making a universal sign language.
this notion of universal being easier is a fallacy.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so no comments from me on that point. After seeing Shibasaki's performance and "Battle Royale" and "Orange Days", I agree that she is talented.

Looks-
well for me.. I've only seen her in Orange Days and I've seen some pictures of her from magazine scans and shizz. I think she was suppose to look average/plain in Orange Days.. but I think she looked a little above average in the dorama. In the other pictures(magazines etc.) I've seen she looked stunning(kawaii, beautiful, etc.).
Talent-
From watching Orange Days I'd give her a 9/10. Playing a deaf girl... Showing all those emotions without saying a word.. that must have been hard. Plus, learning all those sign language (or did she know them b4?) Still, she did a good job on that. I'd like to see more stuff from her. _________________

She has beauty and talent.
I think in order to fully rate her, you need to watch more of her movies if you think watching her perform in dramas isn't enough to satisfy your thoughts on her talent. _________________
