how does copyright infringement or patents work on international ground? didn't think that applied globally. *sigh* youtube was a great source...
Hate to burst your bubble, but copyrights are protected internationally, because if the country is part of the UN, they also have signed a contract where they recognize copyrights created in other countries. Hence, when you draw a picture or record a song, it's protected worldwide. So, when you post an image, or a song text, or an excerpt from a book, or a part (or full) TV-show, and you don't have the explicit permission of the copyrightholder to do so, they can sue you to kingdom come. If you're stepping on the toes of the wrong type of company, you might have to pay for the rest of your life. That's no kidding. For example, here a fan got sued over selling a handmade item that had photostickers of a certain idol on it on ebay. The item sold for 2 Euros. The idol company's lawyers at once sued the person for 1200 Euros. That case made it to the big newspaper, but generally speaking, there are hords of lawyers out there who earn their money by suing ordinary fan people for copyright infringement. "Not knowing" doesn't protect you.
Don't be fooled to treat it like a game or something that the companies owe you as a fan. Also, that you promote the idol's popularity will not save you one little bit. Depending on the scale of your copyright infringement, you might get sued for not just a thousand Euros (or $), but hundredthousands, or even millions.
No Electronic Theft Law (NET Act) sets forth that sound recording infringements (including by digital means) can be criminally prosecuted even where no monetary profit or commercial gain is derived from the infringing activity. Punishment in such instances includes up to 3 years in prison and/or $250,000 fines. The NET Act also extends the criminal statute of limitations for copyright infringement from 3 to 5 years.
Additionally, the NET Act amended the definition of "commercial advantage or private financial gain" to include the receipt (or expectation of receipt) of anything of value, including receipt of other copyrighted works (as in MP3 trading). Punishment in such instances includes up to 5 years in prison and/or $250,000 fines.Individuals may also be civilly liable, regardless of whether the activity is for profit, for actual damages or lost profits, or for statutory damages up to $150,000 per work infringed.
It's a little bit different with trademarks (that's brand names, brand logos etc. like, Coca-Cola or a band name like KAT-TUN), but generally speaking, the company who has the rights in one country can in a lot of cases sue internationally for trademark infringement.

It's kind of wierd, because like I said, all the videos are still there. The only one that was taken off my favorites list was Le Ciel. =P And their outfits were weird anyway, so oh well.
Oh, I need help, also. I'm making an early Christmas list, and two KAT-TUN DVDs are on it. I'm getting the Okyakusama wa Kamisama - Concert 55man nin Ai no request ni kotaete!! DVD, but what should the second one be: Dream Boys or Kaizokuban? x_x I can't choose! They both look great!

hmmn.. kaizokuban, i spose, since it is more kt-concentrated than dreamboys. i'm assuming it's hey say! dreamboys with eito right? so anyway, kaizokuban is great. it's a really genki kat-tun. plus the latin-ish medley with everyone singing in engrish, and jinjin's moonriver. i think you should get it. unless you're an eito fan as well and would like to see them together, then get dreamboys. _________________

I think stuff is changing on YouTube these days cuz Google bought it. So they're probably taking measures to make sure it stays out of legal trouble as much as possible... I remember reading an article a while ago about how Johnny was less than thrilled about YouTube. This article specifically mentioned JE. *sigh* But hey, we will always find a way, ne?

Yeah, google's way popular. They can hold their own in a legal battle. And thanks for the opinion, but I said I was FOR SURE getting Kaizokuban. What I have to choose between is the Okyakusama wa Kamisama - Concert 55man nin Ai no request ni kotaete and Dream Boys (With Eito, yes.)
lol... kame and jin are both out of tune that's why they keep on laughing and kame playfully gives jin a kick.....it's good to see them all here.... they are so cute....

lol No, a list for my mom so she knows what to order, since she'll have to get it online. XD DreamBoys does look awesome (I love Kizuna), but Okyakusama wa Kamisama - Concert 55man nin Ai no request ni kotaete (I'll call it 55 from now on) has a lot of songs and the Best Friends fight on it. But Dream Boys has skits and a cool Ueda fight. And Ueda's outfit is great. I just don't know. ;_;

I'm really scared now...what are the chances of THnK being canceled if these stupid, idiot boycotters continue to keep the ratings down? I seriously hope they won't...this dorama doesn't deserve that. Hopefully they'll realize people love it, it's just boycotters. >_<

I don't think it's possible to cancel a drama... It's probably not finished filming, but I'm sure they've filmed a lot already, and invested a lot into it. It'd be a waste for them to cancel it. Not likely, IMO. Plus it's got a lot more going for it than just Kame. Like a really famous writer.

Do you seriously believe that there are so many fans boycotting that it makes a considerable dent in the viewership? It's not like you have millions of angry fangirls boycotting the show.

Yes, I also was surprised at how easy it actually is for companies to enforce those rights internationally. I checked up on the topic for personal reasons, since I have a couple of international projects running that involve copyright issues.
It's not an issue to be underestimated; it's not like you have a realistic chance to win in those lawsuits.
